It seems like all the Western military analysis of the Russian military is they are terrible. 20 years of being politically reliable to Vlad isn't a good strategy.

I just saw that the Daily Mail and The Times reported that a US Navy intel aircraft (can't remember what it's called) was tracking the Russian flagship that went down and relayed movements and coordinates so the Ukrainians could fire on it.

That could be an interesting development, although I'm guessing nobody on either side was exactly pretending that the Ukrainians did this on their own. On the one hand, direct involvement from any NATO nation, let alone the US, could tempt Vlad to attempt to escalate and drag other nations in. On the other, he's lost a huge number of Russian regulars and is likely going to be reliant upon conscripts fairly soon. I think it'll be pretty tough to convince Russian mothers and fathers to stand by while their sons are conscripted to be sent off to Ukraine. The Battle of Stalingrad this isn't.

I'm fairly certain this ends up being an extremely bloody and economically catastrophic quagmire where the status quo is maintained in the East of Ukraine, while Ukraine maintains its incredible level of corruption, but with much better military hardware.

I’m sure that we have been providing them with all kinds of targeting information. If you watch FlightAware.com you can see the orbits of the recon aircraft. Ships, ground vehicles, convoys, emitters are all watched.
