Re: Unfluffing

Threw stones and sheaf today. Weird, no matter what, my braemar landed in the exact same spot every time at 25 feet despite adjusting all the things. But open was a bit further. Just need to condition. Sheaf was hitting the bar at 22 feet. Need to sort out my throw to include a little more lateral m...

Re: Deadlift help

Upper back actually should be tight. Heavy pulls will round it out a bit, but you want to think of your spine, from skull to tailbone, as a rigid lever. The more movement in the spine, the more work the body has to do to stabilize it and this requires a lot of the nervous system. When I coach the de...

Re: Unfluffing

Okay, so my prep for worlds has not been as I envisioned it. Coaching cross country is very draining and is hard on my schedule. I have five lbs to cut to make weight by November 1st, but I think that will be fine. But, really need to dial things a bit. I've been just doing bodybuilding joint mainte...

Re: Downsizing

You will not regret downsizing. From my rare salad days @235, I have been down to as low as 208. 215ish now approaching 60. Have greatly expanded my cardio last few years and <200 is the eventual target. But here is the best part. My cardio, mainly incline treadmill and rucking, gave me the wake up...

Re: Downsizing

I'll be 47 in a few weeks and yeah, I am just naturally craving different things and meat isn't necessarily one of them. Of course, prepping for a figure comp where i ate chicken breast 24-7 probably had something to do with that. I think I burned myself out on the high protein life.

Downsizing

So, wonder if any of you have wondered about this. I've been training and competing in strength sports for well over a decade. I've put on a lot of muscle and a lot of body weight as a result. I don't intend to stop strength training, but I'm thinking about moving on to strength as a maintenance act...

Re: Shoot them in the legs

"Privately, the president had often talked about fortifying a border wall with a water-filled trench, stocked with snakes or alligators, prompting aides to seek a cost estimate. He wanted the wall electrified, with spikes on top that could pierce human flesh. After publicly suggesting that soldiers...

Re: Red Meat = Back

I'd say most of the time red meat consumption is associated with poor health, it comes in the form of fast food cheeseburgers.

Re: Unfluffing

Okay, so this past week, got one workout in and then spent three days at a camp retreat for middle schoolers. Have spent all weekend recouping. It was actually kind of awesome living the outdoor active clean living (although eating crap) life for a few days. Gotta figure out how to make that a more ...

sigfrith777 or something like that. Glenn was a lifter's lifter and coach, and I too will miss him. His stroke diminished him somewhat, but he recovered. But the whole thing with Muscle Driver USA was weird, here he was, Pendlay bars, Pendlay bumpers, Pendlay DoWin shoes, then nothing. Well, there ...

The number of Americans 18 to 34 who are comfortable interacting with LGBTQ people slipped from 53% in 2017 to 45% in 2018 – the only age group to show a decline, according to the annual Accelerating Acceptance report. And that is down from 63% in 2016. Folks get tired of being bullied into "accept...

Re: Unfluffing

Okay. Two weeks since my comp and I'm getting back to a regular lifting and cardio schedule. This week: Monday: 3 mile run Tuesday: Leg extensions, hamstring curls, back squats, Lat pull-downs, two other things I can't remember. Wednesday: Bench, rows, face pulls, lat pressdowns, curl and press, tri...

Re: Coach Chef

The porch herb garden makes a huge difference for me. Fresh herbs are invaluable. And I need to get back on the veggie box thing. I have squirrels that have made it impossible to keep a proper garden so I accept payment from some of my clients in the form of fresh vegetables from their gardens. I al...

I loved it, although the bit with Liam Neeson was a bit darker than my usual taste. I sent my son upstairs before that particular scene ended.

Re: This is the Fountain of Youth. Prove me Wrong.

The fountain of youth is a lifelong experiment in what keeps you on the positive side of recovery, moving pain free, and continuing to get better at things as you get older. It starts with keeping a training journal and paying attention to your results, both long term and short term. And periodicall...

Re: Unfluffing

Competed on Saturday. Generally a good day although sheaf was sub-par again, only got 18 feet, and hammer was just stupidly bad, 57 feet. I'm apparently moving in slow motion. But, competition prs on weights for distance, 40'2" on heavy weight (21 lbs) and 55'7" on light weight (14 lbs). I won weigh...

Last throwing practice before comp on Saturday. Looking relatively good. Hitting over 55 on lwfd consistently, stones are hit or miss, hwfd sometimes good, if I remember speed I can get over 60 on hammer which clearly needs work.

Re: Unfluffing

Ran three miles on Wednesday, spent all day yesterday running errands. Going to try and combine two workouts this afternoon and then throw with my daughter again tonight. Weight is all over the place, need to cut the booze and get back on my food plan. Too much fat, not enough vegetables.
