Re: So are we gonna talk about GoT or what?

The ending was clearly botched. I don't know who made the decision to make the ultimate enemy Cersei. Her threat should have been eliminated then the big boss battle would have been with the Night King. I mean, it's The Song of Fire and Ice...and in the end there was just fire? and a bunch of lame t...

Also, your feet will burn doing this, they are not used to being under a static load like this. Make sure you don't let them collapse. I often do this barefoot

Re: Strong Endurance

I’m talking out of my ass here, but... Since I discovered ‘girevoy sport’, I always thought it was the “perfect” way to train for the martial artist. But, for the life of me, I can’t figure out how to make it work for non ballistic exercises. I mean, a ten minute set of LCCJ is hard as fuck, but th...

Re: Do you even lift, bro?

No real plan. I'm mostly phoning it in for weights. I am doing some regular type cardio BASELINE CARDIO - 7 days a week. I do 3-5 miles of slower rucking with the dog, think 17 minute per mile pace. I'm trying to get that lower, but not having that much luck. Use a 20 and a 30 lb pack. This has almo...

It is hilarious how they are keeping this shit under wraps.

Check out Mark Rifkin's blog as you can find examples of what he's doing for it in some of his workouts.

I don't get any sleep impact from it.

I know people who do, it changed one guys life because it let him sleep 5 hours in one shot instead of 3 then tossing and turning.

Re: Middle-Distance Running: Improving 3200 m (2 mi.) Time

Are you running on a track for the 2 miles? There are a few different things to do here, especially since your goal (9:00 mile v 10:00 mile) is pretty modest. If you can run on a track, so you can easily measure quarter miles, I'd start with quarter mile intervals. Week 1 8 x 2:00 quarter mile. 4 mi...

Re: BobW (Wanamaker) RIP

I spoke with Bob last in September. We emailed fairly regularly; but that slowed as things worsened. He was spending most of his time sleeping and his good days were severely difficult. I miss him. I spoke with Sharon after he passed. We talked for a good bit about him and other things. He had a ve...

BobW, or Bob Wanamaker, or The Thinking Strongman died on Oct 31, 2018. I had lost contact with him in early October of this year. He was a member here, if not all that active.

Re: This is a thread about increment plates

I pulled this out of the Grayskull LP book The Greyskull Reset as applied to a bench press that has become stuck at 210 lbs would look like this (notations are weight x reps x sets, and all weights are in pounds): First the lifter would calculate 10% of the bar weight, or simply work from the other ...

Re: This is a thread about increment plates

Yes, totally. You can find numerous examples of Rip adherents doing similar to what I outlined. I don't know if Rip recommends that or not at this point. One of Rip's former guys, Johnny Pain, would recommend almost exactly what you said. Drop the weight back significantly and use the repetition met...

Re: This is a thread about increment plates

Incremental plates can be useful if 1. You always use the same plates. Most 45# plates in most gyms are not 45#s. So, you have a 1 lb plate. One week you use a 43lb plate and a 45.5# plate. The next week you use a 46# plate and 45.5# plate. The solution is to weigh each plate and paint it on the pla...

I just learned that the first person to get the court to put someone into perpetual indentured servitude was a black indentured servant who had been released and was now a landowner and farmer.

Re: Interesting Critique of Maffetone Method

The big issue I have with Maffetone's recommendations is everyone else's, an hour at 130-140 bpm heart rate is fucking tedious. I can't get there by either walking or rucking outside. I top out in the 115s with moderately fast rucking with a 20# pack, and fast walking is under 100. There are no frea...
