Re: Still not going gently into that good night

Today, road bike ride, about 15 miles, under a heat warning to boot. Sweatfest again. Bottom bracket has annoying tick in it, swung by LBS to let them take a quick look. Will have to bring it back.

15 miles, 1100’ of climbing in 150’ chunks or so.

Re: Still not going gently into that good night

Yesterday, gravel ride. Part of it was really MTBike territory, so a little awkward on the gravel bike. Serious sweatfest, high temps and humidity. Re: Still not going gently into that good night

Rucked down to the park, then 10 laps up and down the hill with 10 push-ups per lap. Push-ups on a bit of a slope to keep the backpack from flopping over my head. 2 miles there and back.

Dropped below 220 post-workout, which was mostly due to sweat, but who cares. I was 235 3 months ago. Woot!

Opioid Pills in your 'hood

For my county, there were 20,382,708 pain pills distributed 2006 - 2012. There are 162,000 people here. That's... 20 opioid pills per person per year, every year. Man, woman, and child. That's a lot of pills. Check out your data. https://www.washingtonpost.com/graphics/2019/investigations/dea-pain-p...

Re: Pizza Oven

When it cools off a bit, we'll do pizza couple of times per week. You can cook other stuff in it too. Breads and roasted veggies, etc. Pizza making is a bit of a ritual, with dough making, building the pizza, sliding it in off of the peel, watching it and turning it, screwing it up and ending with a...

Pizza Oven

Built one in the backyard. Like building one of the pyramids, it was serious work, but it’s pretty @#$-ing cool. While it takes a while to get the oven up to full grunt at 800 degrees, once there, it takes about 90 seconds to cook a pizza. It’s this design. Recommend it. https://www.brickwoodovens.c...

Last night, walk to park, then 10 x hill sprints/10 push-ups. Walk back. Maybe 1.5 mile walk.

Re: Of Pistols and BW Squats

The best squat exercise I ever learned is the goblet squat where you stand with your toes against the wall. Was it Shaf that brought it up? Impossible to do it wrong without falling backward, making it very back friendly.

Paved and gravel loop, 26 miles and 2600’ of elevation gain. About 2.5 hours. My Garmin ran out of juice mid-ride, so no digital record unfortunately.

Don Jr. isn't even mentioned in your quote. But let's be clear, if he betrays the US, then he goes in the hole with every other traitor. Only you have to have charges, a trial, and a conviction. When Don Jr took that meeting with Russian intel operatives, telling them he would love to get dirt stol...

Re: Another Democrat Betraying Us to China

Wow, you should totally start a thread to discuss your findings, which appear to be at odds with the FBI, CIA, and Mueller investigations. From the Mueller Report directly (you should actually read it, rather than trusting Gateway Pundit to do it for you) Kislyak floated the idea of having Russian ...

Here is someone with a TS/SCI clearance answering whether he would report a contact by Russian intelligence operatives to the FBI... “I don’t know,” he replied. “It’s hard to do hypotheticals...” No security risk there. https://www.axios.com/jared-kushner-trump-tower-meeting-fbi-axios-on-hbo-97b8f3...

Re: Working Out, Surfing and Meditating

Bram, have you tried paddleboarding? It's such a change in perspective to go from laying or sitting on a board (or kayak) watching the waves roll in, and standing up watching them roll in. And fun to paddle out through the waves, or at least trying to. I'm jealous that you can hit the water every day.

I follow Nassim Taleb on Twitter. If he’s not an outcast, it’s not for lack of trying. I got tired of this guy. He came up with many good idea, but his self-admiring style gets old quickly. Antifragility was the worst in this respect. I would still rate him as above the average and way above Malcol...

Rode the same route as two workouts ago. Started out feeling some leftover tiredness from the last ride, which was at my limit for heat. Felt better today, slightly cooler out and I hydrated better. Saw a couple of other gravel riders out. Got passed by some guy and his wife out mtbiking, while claw...
