Re: For Zombie Fans

This takes what I presume is the Pride & Prejudice story line and tosses in assorted ravening zombies.
Yeah, 80% of the original text of the novel, with zombie improvements. And ninjas, you forgot about the ninjas.

Re: Terminator Salvation

Big empty rattling tin can of a movie. I liked 1,2, and even 3. This was lameness filled with lots and lots of 'splosions. Not necessarily a bad thing until the I-beam through the fucking chest. Which he survives. And the heart transplant done in a fucking battlefield tent. Which he survives. Godda...

Re: Watchmen

4. In the novel, it is implied that The Comedian assassinated JFK. In the movie, we actually see this with a horribly graphic recreation of the Dallas motorcade with brains all over the trunk and Jackie trying to scoop them up in a panic. I agree with some of your points, but I have to disagree her...

Re: Watchmen

With some exceptions, I thought it was a very faithful adaptation that had great visuals. Whether that makes for a good movie is another question, and I can see why some people don’t like it, even if they have read the comic book. I thought it was damn cool though. Probably go see it again soon. May...

Re: The Wrestler

Excellent flick. It was a little bleak, but I thought it did a good job of showing the ups and downs of everyday life. Especially the scenes with his daughter and a the deli counter. After it was over I was a little depressed though, mostly because nobody ever asked me to party like a fireman.

Re: Graphic novel suggestions

Thanks for all of the suggestions. I just ordered Ronin and a couple of Punisher books. The public library has Alan Moore stuff I haven't read so I'll stop by there as well. A lot of libraries have these Nexus anthologies: http://books.google.com/books?id=aPBkAAAACAAJ&dq=nexus http://books.goog...

Re: Graphic novel suggestions

Not a superhero comic, but I just finished the 8 volumes of Buddha, by Osamu Tezuka and thought it was pretty bad ass. Man that looks awesome, I am going to try to get my hands on that. It's worth picking up, the paperbacks are pretty cheap and in print. I think I read each 300+ page volume in one ...

That is a very good flick, as are the two that follow it (POWAQQATSI and NAQOYQATSI). I'll have to put them on my netflix queue and watch them again, it's been a while.

I have seen shitloads of sci fi films, and read even more sci fi books...it's quite possible I've read more sci fi than anybody here. I don't know what the good, newer movies are wrt to sci fi, though, since lately I've picked up pieces of shit like "Southland Tales". I'm definitely going...

Dissenting opinion of Death Proof, which I just saw on DVD. A great tribute to car chase films. I saw all the films they mention and are venerating. Especially loved Vanishing Point. The final car chase rivals Bullet. Yes, Tarantino starts off making it look a little like cheesy movies, then skips ...

"Dated" with the quotation marks means "two fingers in", right?

GDG!
I think in this context, it means "stalked."
