Re: Sumu versus Judu
Try to be a little less pedantic, bro. For serious. Koshiwaza (hip techniques) and koshinage (hip throws) are not huge differences in terminology, ipponzeoi vs. ippon-seoinage is another example. You're right, I missed a couple that do have the same name. Nevertheless, looking at this list of about...

Re: Sumu versus Judu
Sumo has throws just like Judo, just not so many. These throws have the same names and are executed just like any Judo throw. Untrue. A)There are about the same number of throws in both (depending on how you count henka waza; and whether or not you include throws now banned and/or quasi-banned in j...

Imagine if there was a government agency, or a govt funded non-profit, that watched wall street as closely as they watch baseball and people riding bikes. =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> ZING!!!! =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> Well said.

Re: RKC Masters and Seniors: Predictions on who stays who go
He's the acting Chief at that cert. I saw that post too. Did you see how John pointed out subtly in another post that more people are attending a cert in Philly without Pavel than one St. Paul with Pavel. Childish/passive/aggressive. Good point. Although I thought that part was more JDC trying to a...

Re: RKC Masters and Seniors: Predictions on who stays who go
JDC mentioned in passing, buried in the fine print of a facebook post, that Brett Jones is the "acting chief instructor". No announcement of that though on the forum as of yet. Interesting, and not surprising, given the direction they've been going in the past few years.

Re: Dragon Door/RKC (RIP)
The bit about everyone passing is BS. I saw people fail. Some passed on video retake later, but some (people I know) did not. Some failed because they couldn't meet standards like the pullup or snatch test, others got dinged for crappy technique or lack of teaching ability.

Re: RKC Masters and Seniors: Predictions on who stays who go
Nah, it's not sensitive. Imagine if you saw your decisions discussed on a forum. Question one: really? Question Two: are there some episodes of "Soap" to watch on TV tonight? I like the ones with Diane/Diana C. So, I poke fun. I apologize. It's pretty easy to figure out what I am going to...

RKC Masters and Seniors: Predictions on who stays who goes
Here's my best guesses: Dan John: Pretty much declared already he's with Pavel. No surprises there. Mark Reifkind: Has already made it clear he's going with Pavel. Mark Toomey: Can't believe he'd leave, esp. given his corporate position with Ddoor. Andrea DuCane: Her staying seems a no brainer; in f...

Re: Al Kavadlo's "Raising the Bar"
I plan on getting this purely for the pictures, and because Al's a good guy (I've trained with him a tiny bit), but am expecting to be disappointed by the text. Anything I get from that will be a pleasant surprise, and treated as such. Still, I probably won't hate it as much as Convict Conditioning.
