Re: This is a thread about increment plates

This made me legit chuckle:
U.S. armed forces powerlifting champion Jack Reape has painted all the 2.5-pound plates pink at his gym to discourage lifters from using them.A good move, manly and scholarly.

Re: GB vs GMB

I agree with this statement, although I am really enamored with GB and would love to focus on it at some point when I have the time for the workouts (they can get quite lengthy) and get access to stall bars and some of the other equipment. GMB is by far the better path for most grown ups. GB is gea...

Re: Please explain

I got it. It works in a strange way - I would expect it to rather be in the "Sent Messages" folder. But as long as it works I am happy. Thanks for clarifying it. I like this better. Ths way, if you “accidentally” send drunk dick pics to FatCat, you can always delete the message before he reads it a...

Re: This is a thread about increment plates

I don’t Agree with his volume vs intensity dominance claim, but his wave loading discussion got me started on fun with quarters. And when you do the lighter set you will feel an ability to go faster. And be more explosive with the heavier set. And if you do it with the right weights you will only b...

Re: This is a thread about increment plates

My experience... When I incrementally add a little bit of weight (or little bit of distance on a MTBike ride, or etc.) it feels like the same weight but heavier. When I make a jump, it feels like a different weight. My relation to it has changed. The weight moves me differently when I move it. Does...

That's an interesting idea with a lot of merit as a simple way to tell when you're crossing the border from healthy training to unhealthy straining.
I guess it's the same idea behind the long, steady cardio using nasal breathing only.

Re: Weight Training, Heart Attacks, and Strokes

The aortic root is mildly dilated. Keep an eye on that. Another possible byproduct of high blood pressure/ valsalva during lifting. Avoiding the Valsalva maneouver might be the perfect auto-regulation tool (unless you are into strength sports). If you are forced to use it, maybe the load is way too...

Judo hack: Caffeine Drink a ton of iced tea / lemonade before class. One Saturday last yr I took my stepdaughter & her friend to lunch before Judo, sandwich place, and had like 3 iced tea / lemonades before class. I was positively peppy and bouncing when class started. Had good energy all the way t...

Re: Gym hacks

Don't sweat it. I don't write anything down, because I'm doing simple periodization and I don't need something to think about. Yeah. I'm doing this complicated (for me) program, where I start with sets of one "primary" lift, heavy for low reps; then sets of a couple "secondary" lifts, medium with m...

That's both amazing and absolutely retarded. At some point, what is the point?
Same as deadlifting 1000+ lbs. or running 42K in two hours, I guess.

Re: Strong Endurance

It's the concept of polarized training. Either hard, or easy. No middle. This is the most useful way to train for the majority of people. Either sprint, or jog. Either do a pump routine, or a heavy routine. The stuff in the middle, while it feels good, is usually a waste of time. Ergo, training str...

It's not about immigration, but the "quality" of the immigrants. But I can see rather clearly why anyone would (and should) object to provide shelter, food, ...

It's slow going for me. I was there on Lyle's forum when he formulated it, and there is a lot of adjustments he's making to the history of his particular version of the intermittant fast. The biography was painful, just like all fitness book autobiographies. I don't know why people think a whole lo...
