Re: Pavel Tsatsouline is a Fraud by Steve Cotter

I don't go to StrongFirst anymore. The problem I have is, I'm not interested in the training philosophy. And all the tea bagger falling in line. It's as if you'll get dick cancer if you tweak something. I like Getups for what they are, getups. Not interested in Bent Press, A + A, Q + D. S + S. It so...

Re: Essential Kettlebelling

Here is non-essential kettlebelling. On StrongFirst Instagram there was a lady who was doing sets of 4 two hand swings every 30 seconds with a 32kg for 70 minutes. What a colossal waste of time. I would die of boredom.

Re: Downsizing

Trained heavy until 46. One day, I popped my sacrum and my body just didn't like it anymore. Moderately heavy kettlebells, a lot more running. Physically for me at 46/47, I finally got old athletically. Played indoor soccer, just noticed I was one step slower and getting calf pulls. Basketball, the ...

Re: Q&D vs basic GS for fitness?

I personally like the idea of A+A training scheme. I can't afford doing it on top of BJJ, the volume will kill me, unfortunately. What I would do though is to add variety - in addition to a set of 5 on the minute I would do, say a double cluster (5 reps, 15 seconds rest, 5 reps, then long rest), ch...

Re: Q&D vs basic GS for fitness?

Why do you need a program? Showing up a 1/2 hour a day and doing what you're doing is great. Try it for 4-6 weeks, you're not going to get dick cancer by not following a program.

Congrats on your baby.

Re: intermittent fasting recap

Sometimes, if I'm feeling a little bloated. What I find is it's hard if you fall out of practice.

16 hours to me isn't fasting. Fasting doesn't start until over 20.

40 works the best for me but it's really a test around dinner time. Mostly it's 24 once every 2 weeks

Re: Pavhole's new book is out today

So. The book is not bad. It is an interesting program with interesting promises. My shoulders don't allow me doing heavy snatches, so I am going to stick with what I am currently doing. There is a bit of a headache involved in determining the starting bell - I am definitely not going to part with $...

Re: Pavhole's new book is out today

Tim Ferriss claimed results for doing the Minimum Effective Dose jacked up on 100 supplements. If you're 25 and are in a lab with specific protocols, of course you're going to get results. If you're 50 and do 30 minutes of swings/snatches and pushups, you'll maintain decent condition. The goal is no...

Re: Pavhole's new book is out today

I already went over my budget for frivolous purchases spending $17 to cut 5 strokes off my golf handicap. If I could putt it would be 8-10 strokes.

Ladders 1,2,3 for a 28 kg press, Ladders for swings 10, 20, 30 and jumping rope is working for me. I'm 50, I don't need power and explosion.

Rif called it on Amazon, Pavel's best work!

He still does his blog which shows commitment but is so LULZ with him worrying about this CNS.

He needs a shave, looks like Dave Letterman. Pathetic, a 60 year old guy trying to be a fitness hipster.

I refuse to buy it.

I like Dan's forum but there are a lot of members over there making excuses for not working hard. Easy Strength, Easy Cardio, DMPM. A bunch of old coots justifying mailing it in.

There is some great stuff over there, you just need to sift through to find it.

I spoke to soon about being glad Geoff Neupert being back. He has turned his back on his MetCon methods, AKA Kettlebell Muscle and More Kettlebell Muscle. Re: Kettlebells for Running

The WTH effect is a myth anyway. Strongfirst rolls all this shit out the the folks who are 100% bought in. I said that about 10 days ago on the SF forum. I called it "newbie gains." In other news, looks like Geoff Neupert is back doing the fitness thing. Which is a GREAT thing. I don't know how the...

Re: Kettlebells for Running

Only 20 minutes to train? Do 200 snatches. I agree with newguy. This is fucking gay. Want to get explosion, do some hill sprints. Powerful swing ain't going to do it. Mike Mahler put out a section in one of his books about explosive strength. That was the REAL DEAL, not this shit. No more original i...

Re: Kettlebells for Running

I saw an ad for that new book. Lazy, do explosive pushups and one hand swings. Yawn. Can't wait to see the reviews feeling swole after 2 weeks in the arms and lost 3 inches in the waist. At least Dan John puts out interesting material. The only thing TGU's make you better at is TGU's. And that's fine.

I don't do BJJ. My fitness is kettlebells, some chest and back at planet fitness and running or walking. My favorite activity is playing golf walking 18 and carrying my bag. I quit soccer due to old age and nagging injuries and might play hoop again in the fall we'll see. You're right though, not th...

Re: Kettlebells for Running

SS sucks. There I said it. Most overrated program ever. At best it's a finisher. I tested it with an 88, 2 years ago without doing the program. Not a fan of one hand swings either. Would rather do Two hand swings or snatches. I run 5 miles 3 days a week because it's summer and I enjoy the nice weath...
