Re: Right now I'm drinking

I've spent years chasing down great single malts, bourbons, etc...but you know, this stuff really isn't that bad at all. Price lets me drink a bunch of it too.

Re: Dinosaur training Brooks kubik

Sean Toohey still posts pretty regularly on the Hardgainer forum. Not sure why, as they're pretty dead last I checked. You've got to be shitting us. Not that he posts there, or that it's pretty dead, but that it still exists!? I thought the same thing. That said this place isn't exactly a beehive o...

Re: Back rehab and starting over

Been lazy as hell with both log and exercise. Two visits to chiro since last post, things are getting better. Chiro has suggested planks and other abdominal endurance stuff. Trying to come up with a plan for future training. Thinking of going the pure bodyweight route for awhile - pushups. pullups, ...

Shattered Sword, the Untold Story of the Battle of Midway.

Forget everything you know or were taught in school about Midway. Tells the story from the Japanese perspective and based on a very closely studied analysis on Japanese carrier operations in WW2. Best book I've read in years.

Truth? What truth? Only truth I know is wife won't be home until 11 and I have a full contingent of whiskey to see me through until then. Canadian Club because I'm a cheap bastard and I like it.

Re: How Do People Feel About Mad Max: Fury Road?

The whole franchise, awful as it was at times. My dad was a trek geek and I grew up on Shatner and co. Abrams' version has ok casting (other than that twit playing Kirk), but his first go was godawful plot- and script-wise. The second wasn't much better and I wonder if Abrams really thought himself ...

Re: How Do People Feel About Mad Max: Fury Road?

The director of the originals is running this one, and not some hipster amateur who likes to ruin classics (I'm looking at you, J. J. Abrams). That's a plus.

Re: Back rehab and starting over

'nother visit to the chiro today. She says I keep showing up with 'rotation' (whatever that means) and an incredibly tight upper back. Most likely due to my just having commuted from work prior to the appointment. Overall things are still improving. Been lazy with the exercises. Pain centered in shi...

Re: Back rehab and starting over

Yeah, came across that one a little while back when all this started. It's where I learned about FT. 4/14/15 Another chiro visit. Felt pretty good walking out. 4/15/15 Shin hurt like a mother after commute this morning. Gimped my way over to buddy with a never-ending supply of ibuprofen. Felt better...

Re: Back rehab and starting over

Thanks Dik. I'm planning on working in some very light barbell stuff here soon. Think I'm going to focus on front squats and sldls for awhile - the first to get out of the SS-style squat habit, and the other to get a good stretch through the spine and hammies. Back has behaved a bit the last couple ...

Re: Back rehab and starting over

4/7/15

Second visit to chiro. Same treatment as first visit.

Leg/back pain like to flare up when driving. Major point of pain is just below knee and into the shin. Chiro says that's to be expected with L4 issues.

Overall not too bad pain-wise today.

Re: Back rehab and starting over

First visit to a chiro today. Something going on in the L4 with the disc - chiro said they can't diagnose exactly without an MRI, which they don't believe is necessary and will avoid until we've run a course of treatment. A couple of adjustments to lower and upper back (sort of a fairly hard and qui...

Re: Back rehab and starting over

Thanks Tom and benny. I'll add racked carries to the repertoire and try to get out of my chair at work more frequently. 4/1/15 (evening) iced my back 20 on, hour off all day, and put an ice bag behind my back for the commute home. Made the drive much more manageable. Mckenzie drills, 8 reps in 30 se...
