Re: Fucked up shoulder
For now it is an ever repeating circle: get better, go train, pain is back, rest, get better, go train etc. Going for an MRI tomorrow, to exclude tears etc. Don't think I will have anything dramatic though. Can often mean simply not addressing the issue at the correct level. Will be interesting to ...

Re: Stranger Things
If you like 'Stranger Things', I Strongly recommend 'Black Spot'. I found the later to be a more nuanced, mature, and stylistic version of 'Stranger Things'.

Re: Of Pistols and BW Squats
I have never understood why people act as if squatting is some technical challenge. If you can sit down in a chair and get back up you can squat. Depends. A deep BW squat? Not so much like sitting on a chair. When I sit on a chair my knees never extend past my toes. In fact, if the chair wasn't the...

Re: Kettlebells for Running
Nothing really fancy at all Fats... 10 minutes of swings with a single KB around 25% bodyweight. For me this was a 16kg KB... Go one handed alternating or two handed, doesn’t matter. Barefoot, of course. Not a runner really, but found that this, or snatches, allowed me run longer, faster and without...

Netflix series ‘Black Spot’.
Kind of like twin peaks but in France, with a bit of X-files thrown in. It’s dubbed in English. If you can’t handle that, do not pass go. I didn’t find it a real problem as the rest of the production more than carries itself. This series is good. I don’t watch a lot of TV at all... My ‘discretionary...

Re: Vibration stretching
I stand corrected. The corollary - write a book. Self help techniques for back pain. There isn't much good material around. I just reread my diatribe and it seemed a little ‘shouty’... Please don’t take it that way. Despondent would be a better tone. Regarding writing a book for self help, the real...

Re: 2019 Goals?
Having done little real training this year, bar a once a week BJJ hammering and an ocean swim or road cycle, my goal is to finish erecting (yes erecting) my awesome garage gym and use it mercilessly to drag my aging arse out of mild but chronic depression. Whilst simultaneously buldimg my practice t...

Re: Max recoverable volume - thoughts?
Most or least? Neither. Nature is always evolving and overall, always a balance. This is my keep it simple formula... If your goal has nothing to do with winning a masters championship or setting a record, find your version of the following: 1) Train a challenging activity 3 days a week. Not ‘balls ...

My view is that an aberrant pattern of physical tension (passive, active or perceptual) resulting in limited ROM and/or dyskinesia is indicative of a bigger underlying problem.

Re: Setting up a half rack...
Thanks for the reply Shaf. If I mount the chin-up bar out from the rack at an angle (which I can do with a bit of mucking around), It gives an extra foot of space. So that should be plenty... Not that I ever plan on kipping. But it will allow me to hang some rings or a TRX etc and still have space. ...

Re: Shaf's Ladders
For those interested I did a big write up of a training cycle applying a few weeks of Shaf's Ladders to a deadlift & floorpress superset template. I used 2,3,5-2,3,5-2,3,5 with strictly timed sets and sticking to the template. It worked well. It was recorded during 2014 in my training journal called...

From here it seems to be a scene that many IGx-ers would receive well... How many of you blokes watch or listen to the 'IDW' type podcasts? (applying the IDW term fairly generally). If you have, what are your favs? Lately I've been enjoying the guests on Rebel Wisdom, and most recently Eric Weinstein.

Setting up a half rack...
Brains trust. I have a question... A while ago I acquired a wall mounted half rack and some equipment at a stupid cheap price. It's a commercial unit 3"x3" with huge catch bars etc. Similar to a Rogue half rack but it also has those two mounting bars to the wall. Like this but with really strong bea...

This here, this comment, is all my spare time allows... a couple of rude replies, to no-bodies, on a nothing forum in the middle of nowhere.
Then back to my lost of ‘things I must complete before I commit suicide’.

My ‘back-off week’ will often become, ‘stop training for 2 months’... I never really know what to do during a back off week... I’m too busy to be wasting time in the gym doing ‘half volime’ at ‘40% RM’... I’d rather get some renovations done, or service my bike, But yes, I do get stronger after a we...

Re: Sleep Paralysis...
Thanks for your comments Smet. There was some literature on the RAS and sleep pathologies, hence my question. Apart from the mechanism for occurence, the other interesting point is the universal consistency of the shadow figures. What is the mechanism for that? There must be some deep (old) cross-cu...

As far as politics is concerned, Australia mirrors USA, sort of, and on a much smaller scale. Australia is a truly Nanny State, and Australians are very obedient people, so that serious trouble - intense protests or strong opinion statements (the kind that can get you into trouble or spark intense ...
