Re: Pavhole's new book is out today

For those who have read Pavel's latest work, a question that is beside the point of whether the methodology works well or not. Since departing Dragon Door, has the over-the-top "Comrade," ("Evil Empire," "One Mississippi, Two Mississippi...One Volga, Two Volga") and, "X is for sissies", etc., sort ...

Re: Stranger Things

I'm a fan even though it takes a lot for me to give a thumbs up on a tv-series.

Wynona Rider + 'IT' meets Steven Spielberg + Dungeons and Dragons and assorted 80s nostalgia = a win for me.

Neupert never met a product by Pavel he wouldn't shill for.

StrongFirst, if anything, is far more insular than the RKC ever was.
Sure seems that way.

Re: Fucked up shoulder

I do "YAT pulls" w. microband, high reps, usually once or twice a week. It's a preventative for me - not something I'd necessarily recommend if you already have an issue, but probably something to include after you start healing. Re: Strong Endurance

I can never remember names and protocols anymore - I thought EDT from Charles Staley was, generally 15 minutes of two exercises, just going for as many reps as you can do well. Ethan Reeves, I thought was, for example, having a rep target and timing how long it took you to get there. I've been doing...

Re: Game Changers

All of these are a sensitive to where you apply them over the story arc of your own personal "athletic" journey. For me, each of these made massive difference when I applied them. Several still do. Thinking in this way (the bigger picture) makes it easier for me to note specific things. They aren't...

Re: After one Joe Rogan Podcast

I was in the sauna the other day and had to listen to a middle aged man tell a younger kid all about how awesome 'jits' is, Joe Rogan, and how sauna-ing for 20+ minutes make "your hormones go off like crazy".

How good do you want to be? How good are you now? How much time are you willing to devote weekly? What kind of time can you give realistically give day to day?

Re: Coaching & Working w/ Adolescent Boys-- Advice

I coach swimming and S&C. I'm a high school teacher. I think you sound like me in a lot of ways - if you saw me on deck once or twice, (or in the hallway) you might think I'm a wannabe hard-ass, but I don't think I am and the kids who've been with me for a season or more don't think so either. Very ...

Re: Bullet Journaling

I have a bunch of notes and lists in Keep. I've got a "Gym" note pinned to the top, for complex workouts I want to do (excersises/sets/reps). My wife wrote up a points system for ways our son could earn his way to us buying a PS4 game he wanted: she shared it with me in Keep and pinned it. Below th...

Re: Bullet Journaling

I've been recommending Google Keep for a few months now. It's made a huge difference and it's a free, easy to use, app.

I still keep a physical notebook and use Google Calendar, but organization and limitations inherent in those platforms made adding Keep a no-brainer for me.

The Mule

Some nice scenes of NM, but not great. Kind of a touchy-feely film.

It's tough for me to see Clint Eastwood age - he reminds me of my dad.

Now, with the new start, a guy could keep the goggles in place. But what's the advantage, other than seeing your turn better. Being able to see is big, not just for turns, but for body position and breathing. (though I don't know if there's any research on these things - I'm basing this on my own e...

Re: Athletes today are way better. Uh, nah.

Check out this Youtube video. Warning: it's 15 minutes long. (Boris, I'd like to discuss swimming, cuz he doesn't mention several new rules.) It's interesting - I talk about this with people from time to time. It's been a while since I've seen this video or read anything about it (and I don't feel ...

Re: Where did all the real niggas go?

I must admit to being very wrong about the certification racket - I thought that it would be dead by now (RKC, CF, etc). I guess I underestimated the $$ and overestimated the brains of the overseas market.

No. Jesus, probably many (if not most) of us are beneficiaries of this... How so? Huh? Are you a native American? I don't know about your (great) grandparents, I guess, but mine were immigrants and/or in the U.S. temporarily and their kids (my parents and grandparents) were lucky enough to be born ...

Here are a few off the top of my head: *Use a slow cooker to prepare meals *Front load your training week *Train more often than not *Choose exercises and modalities that you don't hate *Have a "workout you do when you don't want to work out workout" http://squatrx.blogspot.com/2018/06/the-workout-i...
