Re: Jump rope

I skip rope a fair amount. Usually as active recovery between sets of cals or KBs, sometimes as a stand alone when I'm traveling and don't want to hassle with finding a place to run or ride in a strange city. Agreed about having a rope with a bit of heft to it to get the spin down easier. CrossRope ...

Re: Hip Strengthening

Also try this version of hip clams: https://www.instagram.com/p/BfX1Af8hyyG/?igshid=a2hk2lcleusz Position of the hip and leg is important to use the correct muscles you want to target. I'm going to try the rolled forward hip position from this video when I do clamshells next. I wonder if there's a ...

Re: Hip Strengthening

I'll agree with everything said above, and ad a bit of my own experience from dealing with knee pain traced to weak glutes/hips. One good way to tell if you have a weakness in the muscles around the hips that's translating down to the knees is to run and have someone video you from behind. Best done...

Re: 72 Virgins for Qasem Soleimani

The fact that the plane apparently was mostly full of Iranian students headed back to university after the Christmas break makes me hesitant to call it a deliberate act of revenge. I'd lay my money on accidentally shot down.

So now that Iran has lobbed some missiles into our Iraq occupation, how long until we're at full-on war?

He bases his recommendations on the "perfect" human food. Human breast milk. Just confirmed he doesn't have any information I'm interested in. The nutrients needed to develop an infant up to the age of weening is completely different than what is needed in other stages of life. That's like saying c...

Re: Rucking Thread

Most of the hikers I follow have settled on Altra Lone Peak shoes for their trail hiking, but they'd work fine on the pavement as well. I've had several pair used for both hiking and trail running. Plenty of width, especially in the toe box.

Re: Rucking Thread

20# would be perfect. No need to go heavier. Don't underestimate what 20# on the back feels like. I've done a good bit of hiking on the AT and my pack for a few days was right around that at the start of a trip. Build up REALLY slowly on the time spent with a load on your back. Even strong dudes wil...

Seems like he's hit on the same things that most long term athletes have discovered - it's better to push your fitness/performance higher from the bottom than it is to pull it higher from the top. In GS and high rep BW it might look like making the weight low enough that you can do all the reps at y...

Re: Instant Pot

We have one. Same as newguy, it's main use is getting dried beans done in record time and it flavors them up with whatever spices you're using really well. You actually have to be careful with it or you'll end up with bean mush.

Never tried it myself, but I know it's THE THING with endurance cyclists in the heat. To the point that the rest stations in the Dirty Kanza 200 mile dirt road race stock bottles of the stuff. I could see it working for low intensity all day type of effort, but no way I could get that stuff down in ...

Censure is what I've said from jumps street on this particular dust-up. Shows that the Dems spine-ed up and said they know he fucked up, but avoids the Impeachment circus. Especially seeing how the Senate is unlikely to even let this go more than 45 minutes after they begin the trial until he's Acqu...

Running on grass is one of the most overlooked keys to building mileage without beating yourself up. We're super lucky that the city bought an children's home property right by our house when it closed down to keep it out of developer's hands. It's got several large buildings and a gym, along with s...

What kind of world are we living in that the US even trains Saudi pilots? The kind of world where the Saudis keep the petrodallar afloat and buy billions of $$ worth of genocide, I mean weapons, from us every year. If the Saudis wanted to fuck us up ROYALLY, all they'd have to do is start selling o...
