Re: Right now I'm reading

I just finished the Stand last week. Enjoyed it for the most part but the ending felt kind of rushed.

Re: Right now I'm reading

Just finished The Fifth Season By NK Jemisin, which was excellent. Fantasy sci-fI with unusual premise story. Rolling into the sequel, The Obelisk Gate , and its off and running on page one. There’s a third book too. I’m already wistful about being done with them when I’m done with them. Ordered th...

Re: Right now I'm reading

if lack of plot advancement were a person it would be Robert Jordan. Yeah the reviews seem to go both ways. Thought I’d at least give the first volume a try. He really likes to describe the environment though. How far did you make it into the series? I forget exactly, past midway. Hmmm...not sure t...

I finally finished Azincourt. It’s one of the most violent, rapey-ist books I’ve read.

Waiting for the new Anthony Ryan book to be released on August 4th.

Re: Sybersnot, Rant, AyeDee, ProtoMoron BEGIN POASTING

Hey Shaf, what ever happened to that crazy Polish guy who was talking about THEM BROTHERS SMOLOV and attaching small weights to his body like armor? Was that the same guy who had a thread on how he made his feet more muscular? That sounds more like Crusader. The guy who wore wrestling shoes and did...

Sybersnott is dead. Died 5 or so years ago. Rant? Can't get access to his account here anymore, not sure why. AyeDee...might be dead too, but I'm uncertain of this, the death of the P&B made it harder to keep track. Proto...now Proto I don't know what happened to, I'd like to think he's living ...

Re: Right now I'm reading

I could go back through this thread but I’m lazy. Have any of you guys read the Wheel of Time series? I was seriously considering giving it a go but it’s 15 volumes(including the prequel) and a lot of reviews say it really drags from books 8-10.

Re: Right now I'm reading

I just finished Annihilation by Jeff VanderMeer, gets two thumbs up. Very tense book, sci-fi. Let someone else read the first few pages, and they insisted I loan it to them, then and there. Rolled right into its sequel, Authority , which builds on the tension from the first book. Page turner. Will ...

Gotten to The Stand yet? Eyes of the Dragon is a very underrated King novel. Salem's Lot was great. Liked Pet Sematary. The first Dark Tower. The Talisman with Peter Straub. But for me at least, he takes a real big downturn and becomes practically insufferable. Right around the Gerald's Game/Dolore...

Late to the party on this one but I’ve been going through my sister’s Stephen King collection. Started with IT. Very enjoyable. Probably the longest book I’ve ever read. Finished The Shining last week. Was surprised to see how different the characterizations are in the book compared to the movie. I’...

Re: Bullet Journaling

I've been recommending Google Keep for a few months now. It's made a huge difference and it's a free, easy to use, app. I still keep a physical notebook and use Google Calendar, but organization and limitations inherent in those platforms made adding Keep a no-brainer for me. I think that’s the app...

Re: Right now I'm reading

It's an excellent "summary" if anything 800 pages long can be described that way. It's very engaging reading though. As I read it I could feel that I've gotten old to some extent, as the endless slaughter was pretty stomach-turning. Don't want to read about war for a while. It was cool to...

I watched it with the sound low to avoid being influenced by the crowd and commentary.

I scored it 7 to 5 for GGG. I was fine with the draw though.
