Re: Megareps

It sounds similar to my own approach of slowly working and building the middle range of 50-70%, with a very occasional push to higher percentages. The focus being the build a daily norm, that will slowly grow. It’s worked well for GS lifts.

Here’s another but with the 32kg. You can definitely tell the cardio aspect is pushed going 10 rpm.

BJJ: 1 hr of open mat. Got subbed by a shoulder lock by Wilson. Got the same shoulder lock a bit later in him. Played with 2 of the white belts just using solid pressure and forcing them to use good framing and caught an elbow in my jaw for my troubles. Ended up choking the shit out of him for that ...

Re: Why Aren't You Lifting Barbells?

N=1 but I’ve seen BB focused guys in the field lose it fairly quickly. Things like accidents & fires that require more work capacity left them gassed and at the recovery wagon fairly quickly. Hell, I’ve had to carry one guy out on a house fire because he dropped. The guy was pretty damn strong in t...

Just me and Wilson. Got him once with an arm lock, once with a nasty wrist lock, & once with a choke from rear mount. Got rewarded with a savage arm triangle by Wilson. Good times.

Re: Why Aren't You Lifting Barbells?

Agreed, but we are talking about the vast majority of folks, most of whom simply don’t lift that way. This is why I have always referenced the standard BB lifts, ie what fats has listed in his previous posts. Also, while you can work endurance protocols with a BB, it doesn’t allow you to remain load...

Re: Pushing the envelope. 10 mins @ 42kg LCPP

Phenomenal work.....but you need to keep working. I'm only 22kgs behind you. lol.... How do you find the LCCP different in terms of impact/effect from the straight LC? More loading of the upper body and a bit less on the quads. This resulted in more hypertrophy in the upper body. At slower tempo it...

Re: Why Aren't You Lifting Barbells?

In my opinion, having done both, the 315 barbell set is the way to go. If all you ever did was various squats, pulls, presses, and jerks up to 315 lbs. you could become a stud. Somebody who can REALLY throw around 2 x 32 kg kettlebells certainly would be too, but the barbell man would both be and l...

Nice. It appears you aren't wrapping your fingers around the handle. Why?
No need for it in the overhead. Relaxing the grip there saves it for cleans.

Touché, but we at least add to our reps or more time. Some of us even get heavier kettlebells.

What's a "Half Snatch"?
Standard kettlebell snatch to the overhead position but from overhead you drop to the rack position.

I did the "drinking man's diet" a couple of years ago and got shredded. I was essentially eating a pound + of ground beef with a lot of butter to cook it in and ample amounts of whiskey. A lot of walking/jogging and pushups. It was a bit more loose on the weekends (a lot of beer), but the activity ...

Re: Why Aren't You Lifting Barbells?

Initially I started using KBs because of a shoulder injury from MA; the press from the rack position made upper body pressing feasible again. I saw GS and was interested in the strength endurance aspect, seeing as my only pursuits at the time were MA and cycling. It seemed to be a good fit. A couple...
