Re: KB Decathlon

To be fair, I don’t think it was programming so much as it was a “what the hell” challenge workout by one of the kettlebell marathon guys.

Re: Why Aren't You Lifting Barbells?

Depends on the goals, as always. But I don't think you can go wrong with a barbell Easy Strength style. Light squats, deads, presses, increasing the weight only when current one becomes boring. 15 minute session several times a week. Having said that, I think KB ballistics get close in terms of ben...

Re: Why Aren't You Lifting Barbells?

I will say that ultimately what I do keeps me strong enough to do the things I enjoy without beating me up and I still enjoy it.

Re: Why Aren't You Lifting Barbells?

Some points: -BB lifting leaves me sore and stiff -GS at my level keeps me stronger than most in my weight class. The 32s keep my above a 405 deadlift, I can press my bodyweight for reps, and squat over 275 for a few reps. Strength is fine. -GS also gives me a ton of strength endurance as opposed t...

Re: Two-Arm Jerk in GS: Really Worth It?

Pent and Strongsport were pretty solid ideas, in my opinion. Pent got more praise though. I think the heavier bell in Strongsport took the wind out of folks sails pretty quick.

Re: WKC/AKC/Valery Fedorenko Strong Sport...Strong Lift?

There was a long cycle option and a biathlon, as noted above, option.

Weights began at 32kg and went up from there to 48kg, I think. Goal for LC rank was 8 rpm or better. Biathlon was 12 rpm or better for each lift.

Re: Did people in the middle ages exercise?

HEMA= Historical European Martial Arts I believe it was De Charny who wrote about some of the physical exercise of the knights of the time. I could be mistaken. Maingre also wrote about performing basic skills such as ladder climbing, stone lifting, and equestrian skills while armored. Some of the o...

Re: Two-Arm Jerk in GS: Really Worth It?

As I noted, I prefer LC to anything since it’s more economic on time. I’ve hit just shy of MS numbers in training and CMS in a comp multiple times. My goal is to hit 60 reps this year, possibly in a comp. For fun, half marathon is a welcome distraction but I’ve only focused on the non-comp lift of c...

Re: Brief praise of jogging

Second the Pose or other "natural" running style, but wouldn't sweat a forefoot/heal landing. Just focus on foot landing under your hips rather than "reaching" and get your cadence up over 170 total footfalls/minute and everything will fall into place. Make any changes in running form gradually. Ye...

BJJ: 5x 10 min rounds, 30 sec rest Focused on quick and flowing transitions. Sub’d my partner 2x, reverse armbar & choke from north south. Feeling stronger in the roll despite the weight discrepancy. Gotta be more timely about picking my time to act. Later.... Dips: 6x12 Chins: 6x10 SQ: 100 @ bw

Re: Two-Arm Jerk in GS: Really Worth It?

Each to their own. You and I are similar. I’m pretty much built for the sport and have had no issues with naturally hitting the positions. Then again, my upper arms are abnormally long and rest naturally on my iliac crests. Lots of folks don’t have that reaction. In most cases nobody is aiming for a...
