Re: Training Log to Immortality

From the ebooks.. some of the hold times were insane. Have they been adjusted in the online course? I'm assuming it's scaled more realistically.

Tom, what do you think of Fred Mastro's material? Fred has his critics from the over the top Funker Tactical Youtube accounts. Given that.. my bud, Chris Derbaum just got back from teaching Kuntao in Paris. He said the attitude over there is just harsher.. Lots of students get in scuffles and they ...

Silat for the Street

Burt Richardson's book is a breakdown of his many years experimenting with classical silat in a pressure environment. First Dogbrothers fights, later with BJJ stylists, muay Thai fighters and MMA athletes. What remains is the basics, and the applications. He also shows when things work with a blade,...

Re: Wrestling vs BJJ

"Combatives,.. axe hand, chin jab, etc" work because the guys were fit, practiced boxing and combat judo. Add in some Styers knife, etc. and they could handle much of what they didn't get a chance to shoot. The modern combatives guys just copy the stuff from books. I mean they reference Rex Applegat...

Total agreement. Stimulus of a Pull/Push/Squat,.. then go with a fuller ROM with lighter, but some resistive stuff. Bands, Kbell, Clubs or Gymnastic Bodies type. Rippetoes said, how do you track progress with quarter squats. --The same way you track progress on a push press. How much was legs and ho...

In wrestling.. early 70's it was just not eat,.. spit in a cup to dehydrate. Then after weigh in,... drink water.. honey, Space Food Sticks [remember them?] and one guy was using laxatives... light doses days before. His parents found out and that was that. Not scientific at all. We were all still g...

OK... back in theater, concert, touring rock shows.. there was roadbox of odds and ends called the, "Jizz Box" or "Gack Box". I didn't make it up. "Jizz" is like crap,.. excrement or by product. So the adaptation to years of pajama wrestling that gives aches and pains is "Jizz". I'll call it compens...

The Renzo Gracie Academy crew.. Danaher Death Squad is doing just the drills to balance out the jiz that BJJ causes. That's a pretty serious crew and I don't anyone was a gymnast, hence... no one looks spectacular like on Instagram doing those ridiculous drills.

Lead hand down: Rich Bustillo used to say, "Learn this game, [both hands up], first". Meaning, you may never get so good or talented to move to lead hand low. Archie Moore did it. Ken Norton,.. it worked against Ali and lighter punching. Versus George Foreman and Gerry Cooney, not so much. Fedor's d...

Spend the 4 grand on hookers and blow.
Just chase a truck into town.

On that note, Garry Tonon is sponsored by Versaclimber. He said he only uses it for weight cuts, which aren't too often.
The #danaherdeathsquad does Gymnastics Bodies type training to deal with what BJJ's effect is on the body.
