Re: Back to KBs

Fri., Mar. 13, 2020
Rest

Sat., Mar. 14, 2020
AM: usual jog/swim/crawl

Sun., Mar. 15, 2020
AM: jog/swim/crawl + "warmup is the workout." Swings were mostly 24kg x10. I just don't like sets of 15 or 20 with the swing.

PM: (FSQ 2*20kg x6 + TGU each side + pushup variations) x5 rounds

Re: Back to KBs

Thur., Mar. 12, 2020
AM: jog/swim/crawl and “warmup is the workout” with 20kg and 24kg.

PM: 150# sandbag getup and carry. Just 1 per side. I feel run-down and sick and weak as, well, maybe not a kitten, but a medium-sized puppy.

Re: Back to KBs

Wed., Mar. 11, 2010 AM: short jog and getting wet under garden hose (no swimming or crawling). "Warmup is the workout" swinging the 20kg and 24kg for sets of 10. PM: 2x20kg * (8 front squats + farmer walk) * 4 rounds. Target was 8 rounds. I feel like crap. Last few weeks, it's like I can't feel hyd...

If you can lose a pound a week to your target weight I will donate $200 to the Livingston Food Bank. If you accept this wager, let me know your target weight and starting/end date. Damned fine idea. I'll donate $100 to the local search & rescue team if you make it, OR 4oz. of my semen to a San Fran...

Re: Back to KBs

Fri., Mar. 6, 2020 AM: jog/swim/crawl. "Warmup Is the Workout" with 230 swings sandwiched in. Still nice and tame on the swings--just 16kg and 20kg and two or three sets of two-armed swings with 24kg. And the cold water has stopped being a big deal. PM: 5 rounds of (5 goblet squats + some pushups)....

Da fuck, C.A., you're 76 ??!! I just thought you were emotionally pulled together and that's it. Alright, then, back into that fray, motherfucker. I'll be watching this journal too, and now that I know that you're my parents' age, I'm hoping to see you set an example for reprobates like Mak and Smet...

Wed., Mar. 4, 2020 AM: The usual predawn jog/creek swim/crawling. Tried bringing some Indian clubs and goofing around with those near the end of the run, but it was too cold. Thur., Mar. 5, 2020 AM: jog/swim/crawl PM: Hill walk with 2x16kg bells. Overhead walk, then rack walk, then farmer walk. Res...

Re: Back to KBs

Sat., Feb. 29, 2020 Mountain rescue training exercise involving a 75# pack over 2.2mi up to 9000 ft and then doing scenarios and camping up there. The climb was awful: I wore too much, carried too much water, and broke both my poles. But I didn't get wet, didn't get hypothermic, and didn't get (ver...

I was starting to wonder if we should send a St.Bernard out for you. Thought maybe you'd been abducted/recruited by a cult whose secret lair was near the path of one of your races. Seems like you have a sensible plan for resetting, for your mind as well. As DJ sez, the body is one piece (brain opti...

Re: Back to KBs

After that last post, I couldn't go on snatching because my left SI joint was irritated. Since then I've had to baby it. At these moments I sometimes goof around with Indian clubs/clubbells/maces and Persian-type pushups, but I can't wring much generalized effort from those and I end up stopping my ...

More candid than I thought he would be. But still not the tell-all I was hoping for, with names named and replete with anecdotes about Sr. RKCs exploited and snubbed and diabolical machinations.

Re: Simple and Sinister - second edition.

I never liked RoP. Way too much volume(150 presses) This. 150 presses, with full-body tension from your toes to your grip? NFW. ETK/RoP was a monstrous abortion. In my opinion, Pavel's best works are PttP, 5x5x5, 3-5 and ES (which DJ himself co-authored). All of them being variations of the same th...

I did read where DJ said the kettlebell community split and is now dead. He absolutely nailed it. Fredo had a lot to do with that. Interesting. Got a link or something? I don't follow DJ closely--he writes a lot and often I don't find it easy to follow his train of thought--but when he deigns to co...

What do you guys think about calorie burn doing this kind of thing? Someone said their appetite was through the roof so that might negate any benefits. IME, it's all about heart rate: I get hella lean (despite being naturally chubby) as long as I stay well inside the Maffetone formula (180 minus ag...

Any shoe thoughts? For me, the special sauce has turned out to be a Rocky S2V. Also popular in Goruckworld are Moab Ventilators, but they have no shank, which for my money means they're only good for distances of up to 25 miles. Be very, very, very open to the idea that you'll need a larger and/or ...

Someone should try to persuade him to write an e-book. I did suggest it to him. He says he doesn't want to do it because the return on the effort is quite low. Currently he sells several courses, and this is more profitable for him. His online coaching services also make more sense to him. So the b...

Re: 2020 Goals

AEN, I think there are two components to getting physically ready for the Star Course. One is aerobic capacity, and if you’re accustomed to lots of running/biking LSD, you’ll probably have that covered. In Goruck lore, the rule of thumb that people circulate is that you should work up to a 40-mile h...
