Re: Beer!!!
Anyone here dig mixed beers (e.g., black and tans)? There's a pub here in town that has about a dozen on the menu. They make a Sweetwater 420 (pale ale) and Guinness blend that's muy yummy, called Bongwater. They also have a Miller High Life and Sprite shandy that's good stuff as well.

OMG! I just started a draft of my recent experience attempting to eat nothing but chili for 30 days, called "Toke on my Fart".

Re: The Pacific
I need to revise my critique: I just saw episode 5 last night and the landing and first battles on Peleliu were excellent. As good or better than Private Ryan, imo. Very well done.

Re: The Pacific
Ditto. Hanks/Spielberg were doing well at being the story-tellers of that decade, but they've given up a lot of that credibility with this series. Lame-o, poor character development, impossible to follow night battles (yea, I know they happen; that doesn't mean they make good TV). Without a good sto...

Re: The couch thread
Dug this quote from Gym Jones last week: in a circuit or IWT, a full Clean or Snatch is about the silliest movement one could use. For fitness (as opposed to O-lifting competition) it is the pull from the floor to full hip/knee/ankle extension that produces the gains. Catching the bar is mostly irre...

Didn't figure you'd dig Foghat. Saw them in '80 and '82. I think. I was drinking a lot back then. Still am, but I was then too.

Just did a quick Goggle of '82 prom pix and found this. Nearly a spittin' image of what stosh looked like back in the day. http://schools.evergreenps.org/199120623145410487/lib/199120623145410487/Cori_Kelly_Sr_Prom_-_Prairie,_1982.jpg Only my date had long blonde hair and we got in a horrible fight ...

Stoshinator, if you weren't working on your '71 AMC Javelin all the time while jammin' to Foghat you'd be up on this shit. True story: I borrowed my cousin's '75 Gremlin to go to the senior prom because the floorboards on my '71 Pinto wagon (with fake wood on the sides, but I digress) had rotted ou...

Has anything from this mini-andro-gallery made it here yet? http://www.gillianmounsey.com/streetsofnycgallery.htm Approximately three hundred pages back, or so. Good effort, though. Figgered as much. I can't keep up. This thread already has more pages than any book I've ever read. Or any book sold ...

Can't do McCarthy.
Thomas Wolfe is worth digging into if you haven't. I've read "Look Homeward" a couple times. Tom Wolfe too. I really dug 'A Man in Full', though critics panned it some.

Not sure if this has been posted before but I just read it for the first time. Kewl Caviston summary: Questions about Crossfit come up pretty frequently and I’ve addressed some of them, but I’ll deal with the topic again in more detail. Sit back and get comfortable, this may take a while. Any discus...

Now, we claim that the winners of the CrossFit Games are the fittest man and woman on the planet. There are many who dispute this claim, but as of yet, no one has directly challenged any of our winners. We would be more than willing to set up the competition (and, in fact, this year's Games are one...

I call BS. If it coud kill John Ritter, no way she coulda survived.
Death occurs immediately after traumatic rupture of the thoracic aorta 75%–90% of the time since bleeding is so severe, and 80–85% of patients die before arriving at a hospital.
