Alternative to $300-400 prowlers

Post by Gin Master »

Wanted one prowler for the house and one to leave at the judo place. Instead of paying $300 plus shipping, I upgraded from my shitty MIG to a Lincoln stick.

Welder $300

Prowler $20 + 12 pack of shitty beer

I think I'm going to make skis by taking 1.25" cuts (4" long), welding sheet onto the bottom of them, slipping them inside the legs, and doing a tack weld. Easy change out. I'll probably do a few of these in different shapes. If any of you local bastards show up with a rack of ribs and a few dollars, you can take one home with you. The welding is more slop than elite, but it holds well.

Still needs a pole for weights, lower pushing handles, and uprights on the other side.

Not only do kettlebells cure disease, they also double as angle clamps.

Nice. A guy welded me mine for $150 on Craigslist. Had to sand and Rustoleum it myself. Got quotes from $750 on down.
One of the downsides of the Internet is that it allows like-minded people to form communities, and sometimes those communities are stupid.

Prowlers are popular with Crossfitters as are kettlebells. Are you wearing any Rebok items?

The next project is a giant Reebok One sign for my garage.

Popular use and proper use don't normally walk hand in hand with those pimpled twats. Most of them also lack the skills in proper mechanics and physics for constructing their own extreme tools of torture, luckily they have some money laying around to buy cheap, crappy models gone rogue.
I ain't gonna lie to you, this ice cream is delicious.

Nice work Ginny. I got a shitty little 110 welder from a guy for free (borrowing indefinitely). I need to get off my ass and build some shit once I finish the loft bed I'm building for kid #1. Thanks for the inspiration.

Damn man, looks nice! For anyone on the super cheap, a derelict shopping cart with the casters removed works surprisingly well.

Did one similar to the Prowler 2 this weekend. I swapped the push handle for another weight bar. I'm going to make a basket in the back so you can throw in sandbags, KBs, whatever (guy I'm making this for wanted that stuff).

Cost of materials pictured (2" 11 ga. square tubing, 1.5" ID round tubing, 4"x1/4" flat strap and breaking fees): $48.79.

I don't believe that any sane person would push a Prowler using this position. Pulling a conventional sled in various ways is much less likely to injure you.

Why? Are you thinking possible low back injury? I've done plate pushes before with no problem. Of korse, I'm a bad motherfucker.
