Baffled, you mong. Is it right that this little Russian gets a title fight in his second ever pro-fight? Precedence? Views? I believe stats as an amateur are 397 fights, 396 wins (loss by controversial decision), 2 Olympic titles, World title and European title. Response awaited.

Precedent: Pete Rademacher challenged Floyd Patterson for the heavyweight championship in his debut in '57 after winning gold in '56.

Views: I'm actually happy to see a guy who was a great amateur challenge himself. It's not like he was installed as the mandatory. It's an optional defense for Salido, both guys are going to make good money, and then they'll satisfy the mandatory against Gary Russell Jr a couple months later.

If Lomachenko wins, it'll be historic. I'm not sure a fighter has ever won a title that early. I'm excited to see how things shake out.
