I think 538 has often muddied their foray into the NFL, but I did like this particular article on field goal kicking over the years.

When did the soccer players style start? There aren't any straight ahead kickers left anymore. May account for something or another?

the gogolak brothers in the mid-60s. born in hungary. went to cornell and princeton before going to the nfl.

Agree, but they need to pair an actual sports writer with the stats guys to have good articles. The stats should complement the history, not act as a substitute for it.
