Penn State's costs related to the Sandusky scandal are approaching a quarter-billion dollars.

In the grand scheme of things, $250 million is not a lot of money.

Are there not plenty of delusional alums still writing big donation cheques?

It's absolute insanity that people still jump through hoops to normalize or defend the athletic department or Penn in this whole mess.

But, then again, people still defend the Vatican and Catholic church.

I always thought systemic child rape and torture was one issue all sides would agree on. Apparently not, if you're a fan of revealed truth or touchdowns.

some change to the legal landscape, and the money involved was part of that report.
Two former Penn State University administrators pleaded guilty Monday to misdemeanor child endangerment for their roles in the Jerry Sandusky child molestation case. . .
Ex-Athletic Director Tim Curley and former university Vice President Gary Schultz originally were charged with felonies. The reduced charge is punishable by up to five years in prison.

PSU football reported $75.5 in revenue in FY16, which is $4 million more than it made in FY15 [...] The football team piled up $35.6 million in expenses, meaning it made about $39.9M in profit

Still making money, and at this rate will be in the black in six years. The important thing is they didn't do anything really bad, like not stopping a player's moms from getting a rental house with donor money.

In a day when people lose their minds about a racially insensitive tweet or a decade old recording, I have problems understanding how Penn State or Baylor aren't sitting things out for a few years.

The guilty pleas of the two admins is really stressing the ability of the Paterno supporters to rationalize their position. Hopefully the admins will turn state's witnesses against the Former President, who will go all the way to trial. Then we will finally hear their testimony under oath.

SMU was a potential national champion in the early 1980s. They were cheating so much that even Brian Bosworth mentioned it
in his book. They got the death penalty and have not been a force in college football since. I have heard sports talk hosts say
that the NCAA is very unlikely to ever give the death penalty to the program again.

Contrary to public perception, while the NCAA provides a catastrophic injury policy, schools do not provide basic athletic injury insurance for their athletes.

Rather, as a condition of participation, the school requires that the athlete’s parents or the athlete provide a basic insurance policy. The school just provides secondary coverage and dependent on its financial ability has the OPTION to pay for deductibles, uncovered procedures, etc. Commonly, most of these policies are limited in that they do not cover medical procedures more than two years removed from the athlete exiting the program … thus leaving the athlete or his/her family financially exposed for the long term effects of concussion or other injuries.

Further, for athletes seeking to pursue a professional sports career NCAA rules limit the number of athletes eligible for the NCAA Exceptional Athlete Disability Program, which requires the athlete to pay for such insurance as well as Loss of Value insurance.

A jury on Friday convicted Graham Spanier, a former president of Pennsylvania State University, of one count of child endangerment, capping a remarkable downfall for a man who was once a leading figure not just at Penn State but in American higher education.

Former Pennsylvania State University head football coach Joe Paterno was aware as early as 1976 that former assistant coach Jerry Sandusky had molested children, according to court documents unsealed Tuesday. Paterno, who died in 2012, had previously said he was not aware of the abuse until 2001.

According to the documents, a man identified as John Doe 150 testified in 2014 that when he was 14 he was molested by Sandusky, and that he reported the abuse to Paterno. "I don't want to hear about any of that kind of stuff," Paterno allegedly told the boy. "I have a football season to worry about." The documents include several allegations that other Penn State officials ignored claims of abuse against Sandusky for decades, as well.

Former Penn State assistant coaches Greg Schiano and Tom Bradley knew that Jerry Sandusky, their colleague on Joe Paterno’s football staff, was acting improperly with young boys years before law-enforcement authorities were first notified, according to testimony from former Penn State assistant Mike McQueary that was unsealed Tuesday by a Philadelphia court.

McQueary, who testified in Sandusky’s 2012 criminal case that he had told Paterno of seeing Sandusky rape a boy in 2001, said in the 2015 deposition that he had “briefly” discussed with Bradley what he had seen.

“He said another assistant coach had come to him in the early ’90s about a very similar situation to mine, and he said that he had — someone had come to him as far back as early as the ’80s about seeing Jerry Sandusky doing something with a boy,” McQueary said.

[Joe Paterno knew of abuse in 1976, according to unsealed testimony]

According to McQueary, Bradley identified Schiano, now the Ohio State defensive coordinator, as the other assistant. In response to a question about whether Bradley had shared details of what Schiano had said, McQueary related a conversation with Bradley.

Tennessee fans still fuming from an embarrassing defeat to Vanderbilt revolted in response to rumored negotiations with Ohio State defensive coordinator Greg Schiano on Sunday.

Tennessee and Schiano have mutually agreed to move on from one another, a prominent Vols booster told SEC Country on Sunday night, in the aftermath of an unprecedented campus protest.

A demonstration by Vols fans and students sparked a security response on campus about the same time state politicians and the White House press secretary took to social media to denounce the potential hire.

The college football world looked on as pictures surfaced of UT’s iconic rock painted with a message reminding passersby that Schiano was accused of staying silent about child molestation committed by former Penn State assistant Jerry Sandusky. Schiano was a defensive coach with the Nittany Lions from 1991-1995, during Sandusky’s tenure.

Apparently in Tennessee, unlike in Pennsylvania and Ohio, there are more important things than winning on the field.

No wonder they haven't won anything since 2001.

This has really got to suck for Tom Bradley, the current UCLA defensive coordinator. At Penn State for 30 years and didn't know nuthin'? I don't think there's any way incoming UCLA coach Chip Kelly is going to keep him, and his association with Sandusky and JoPa will make it hard to get future jobs in football or broadcasting (also because UCLA's defense was awful this year).

That could be all of them, right? For decades, having that program on your resume has been a Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval for coaches. They could all wind up blackballed.

We think we live in an advanced and civilized society. The Enumclaw horse rapers (and those fucked by horses) are actually better humans than the people who ran MSU and PSU.

Aside from all the Obama and/or Trump hate, we live in a society that turned a blind eye to child sexual abuse in some of our best institutions. Stomach turning.

Makes me ashamed to be a human.

Fucking Big 10
Rep. Jim Jordan, the powerful Republican congressman from Ohio, is being accused by former wrestlers he coached more than two decades ago at Ohio State University of failing to stop the team doctor from molesting them and other students.

The university announced in April that it was investigating accusations that Dr. Richard Strauss, who died in 2005, abused team members when he was the team doctor from the mid-1970s to late 1990s.

Jordan, who was assistant wrestling coach at the university from 1986 to 1994, has repeatedly said he knew nothing of the abuse until former students began speaking out this spring, and continued to deny it on Tuesday. His denials, however, have been met with skepticism and anger from some former members of the wrestling team.
