The recent shift to earlier bed times with corresponding earlier rising has, by itself, made my life better... The added bonus of more ocean swim / cycling time / watch-the-sunrise-at-the-beach time in the mornings is icing on the cake.

I love morning training, makes the day infinitely more tolerable. Ocean swimming though?? Fuck that. I can't even be arsed to get changed to swim in the pool of my over priced luxury gym and my nearest ocean is the north sea so I doubt I'll be pursuing that any time soon.

I can get up really early and go for a run no problem. But I will never, EVER be able to do strength work unless I've been awake for at least three hours.

The last time I switched to mornings it took about a month. Omg it was awful. But once it stuck it stuck. I won't do it any other way now. I have to get my workout in the bank before breakfast. And there's something peaceful about knowing you have it settled before doing anything else that day.

Actually not too bad. I used to do stationary bike rides early in the morning when I had my "get ripped" paroxysms. Also, Easy Strength worked well for me when training in the mornings, but the loads are modest and the sessions were short. Sort of get it out of the way - couple of warm up sets, then two sets of five, then piss of for breakfast. In any case, getting more in sync with the sunset/sunrise cycle seems to do good.

This is the way I felt when I was working out in the early a.m. years ago. I did it for about two years. I tried to go back to it at the beginning of the summer but couldn't stick with it. I really need to force myself to start doing it again.

Yeah, there's that.
... Consider it an opportunity to work through irrational fears.

We've done night ocean swims before, only about a mile. But it's pitch black and you can suddenly swim into a load of seaweed. The 'scaredy-cat' response goes through the roof... In the ocean, no one can hear you squeal.

Sunrise is currently 5:45am and ocean temp getting up around 65F, so it's a good time of the year for morning swims.
