I'm just over 77k. Will try and get over 100 by the end of the weekend.
I don't have a lot of experience with vampires, but I have hunted werewolves. I shot one once, but by the time I got to it, it had turned back into my neighbor's dog.

Only 15k in but I'm only doing 30 minutes a day at the moment.

Might have to switch up to 10k a day

I plan on breaking 100K Saturday. I have a GS comp next Saturday so I'll drop the long rows after probably Monday or Tuesday to let my low back and legs rest then pour the coals back to it the next week.

no. i'm in decent shape, not racing shape, and don't have the motivation to drive myself.

i'll probably aim to do a season's best 2k in feb, but "best" in this context is different from good.

how about you?

I doubt it. I've got a lot of meters in my legs this season but no much intensity. I don't think I could get under 7 even with a solid month of training.

If we do the Atlanta sprints it'll just be for fun. I could suffer through a 7:10 2k and probably not vomit.

dood--

the atlanta sprints are in mid-feb. that gives you approx 10 weeks to do interval work and get your vo2 max right where the gods say it should be when you're fit and sharp.

sub-7.

Another 10K today. 42:01.7 FUUUUUUUUUU I wanted under 42 so bad. Too slow on the front end.

91,097 meters total

I'll break 100K tomorrow if all goes according to plan start shortening my distances going into Wednesday when I'll drop rowing completely until after my GS comp next Saturday.

I had done mostly long slow, low-rate distance work for a few months, then I followed the Pete Plan and went from 7:10 to 6:57 in six weeks

I don't agree with some of the ideas in the plan and a couple of the sessions seem a bit 'silly' (the pyramid for one), but It certainly works.

101,097 as of today. Last 10K until after the GS comp. I'll probably do 7,500m tomorrow and a 5K Wednesday to finish up the week.

I'm still at just under 67k and will do another 7400ish tonight

Really hard to rack up many metres when only doing 30' a day

I'm at 145k. Ready for this challenge to be over so I can ride my bike more and do some strength oriented stuff for a little while.

Too cold for the bike for me. I'm usually sick of the rower by this point as well but the 4 or 5 days I missed and the fact that a 10K at a time seems to get more than enough done that I don't have to row every day if I don't want to seems to help too.

Hit 43:37 for a 10K - My strongest and highest ranked effort so far. Puts me in the 82nd percentile for the 40-49 year old female fatties.

sitting at 136,160 - With the run/race(Haha) sunday, i am not as far ahead as I was. But, still have a lot of time and will likely do another 1/2 Marathon before the end.

Only at 80k. Got a couple of forced days off coming up too. Might need to switch to 10k a day instead of 30 mins

You do slow and low rate?

I'm doing everything at r19 and 190w / 2:02 at the moment. Starting to suck.

90% of my meters are slow (65-65% hr) and stroke rate is 18 to 20 (tops). i'll do something brisk--either a single piece or intervals--about once a week.

over time, i've reduced the volume of faster stuff, and i don't have the will to push myself as hard as i used to on timed pieces and intervals. i'm not going to crash-bs, so i've got no external motivation.

Hey DMW when you get a moment would you mind detailing how the whole Crash B's work? Do you have to qualify? Weight, age? What's the whole vibe like?

to qualify, you simply need to be alive and able to register online. costs $30.

the race distance is 2k. in boston, at the b.u. hockey arena.

two weight classes: heavyweight and lightweight. (the women heavies are called "open" weight. there are usually a few serious amazons and a fair sampling of fat chicks.)

lightweight is 165 lbs. you have to weigh in the morning of the race, so you don't have the stuff you see in boxing, where a guy weighs in at 165 and shows up the next night to fight at 180.

races are divided by age group: high school, collegiate, open, 30-39, 40-49, 50-55, 55-59 and on up in 5-year increments. they also have some divisions for physically challenged. old guys go early to mid-morning. the whole show runs 6-7 hours.

there are always a number of seriously fast guys in every weight class, national team, international team reps, world record holders, and such. some of the fun comes from being at a competition that includes the best. for me, i've never competed with them, even if i have raced at the same time. most people are serious about going as fast as they can.

the monitors are set up so you can see two or three guys ahead of you and a couple of guys behind. people do seem to get caught up with this race within the race. a couple of years ago, i recall being pretty fucking pleased with myself when in the final 250 meters i overtook a guy i had never beaten. he died at the end, and i performed like an immortal.

they set up about 75 ergs in a horseshoe shape, double row. they run the event on a tight schedule. it's well organized. everyone is friendly, but you can only watch only so many races of people yo-yoing on an i-beam. back when the c2 forum was lively, there'd be a group of forumites, including a contingent of brits, that showed up and told lies and insulted each other. if you go with someone or two or three, it's decidedly more fun. otherwise, you arrive, sit around for a bit, change, warm-up, race for 7ish minutes, and take however long to recover. then you're in a sort of post-coital slump. unless you really get a kick out of watching people you don't know row on the erg, the rest is anti-climactic.

here's the website:

http://www.crash-b.org

here's the link to results (so you can see how fast and slow people your age go) and also photos:

http://www.crash-b.org/past-regattas/20 ... s-results/

i'm pretty sure the site also has info about local hotels and the like.

is all this any help?
