Tonight's UFC: 214

At least 4 fights of consequence are going down.

Jon Jones (the greatest ever IMO) vs Daniel Cormier for the Light Heavyweight Title

Demian Maia (the greatest Jiu-Jitsu specialist in MMA) vs Tyron Woodley for the Welterweight Title

Cyborg (probably the best female MMA) vs Tonya Evinger for the Women's Featherweight Title

Cerrone vs. Lawler - two explosive, violent fighters with little self-regard

I'm betting on Maia and Cormier, though I don't see them winning. Cyborg will probably win just because she's such a monster, and no idea on Cerrone vs. Lawler.

Thoughts? Predictions?

Cerrone v. Lawler should never have been booked as a three round fight. That's a five rounder.

Jones/Cormier went as expected. In the first rounds, Jones was low-kicking & front-kicking Cormier, then whipped it into a roundhouse to the melon to finish the fight in round 3. Ref allowed about six blows to Cormier's head after he was unconscious & defenseless.

Woodley/Maia as expected, given that Maia couldn't take him down in the first round...from there, it was a done deal. Woodley missed a big opportunity to score points by not going balls to the wall in the last 30-60 seconds of each round. But it didn't matter. Woodley's caution made it a boring fight. Even Dana bitched about it.

The chick v. Neanderthal fight was horrible. And predictable. I'd rather watch a bumfight in the 7-11 parking lot...would be better technique. Why was this hot mess higher on the card than Lawler/Cerrone? Short Bus affirmative action?

Jones is such a beast. He hits from so many angles with such a variety of strikes and he looked enormous compared to Cormier.

I like the call-out of Lesnar, I'd like to see that fight.
