Fit in the first episode. I can't imagine being that beat up from powerlifting. Didn't Dave Tate get ripped a few years ago?

I like Dave. But until he changes his obsessive compulsive approach to everything, he will stay broke.

It seems to me that in most sports, and definitely in powerlifting, all the elites are essentially obsessive people. While their may be others with the basic physical gifts to excel in a given sport, its the combination of the raw genetic material and that obsessive compulsive mindset that really carries them into the top ranks. It's not hard to see how these people will totally trash their bodies on the way to servicing their compulsions.

Anecdotally, I remember an interview I read with Tom Brady. He was talking about his obsession with football, and that even when he's training six days a week, he will sit down on the seventh day and watch three football games back to back. That's way beyond dedication or passion, it's obsession.

“I could literally watch football all day,” Brady says. “I could go four or five hours without getting up from this chair.” He begins watching plays from what might be the most difficult loss of his career, the Giants’ victory over the Patriots in the Super Bowl in 2008, New England’s only loss that season.
