Just recently read a bit of new research.

You know what they came up with? In a calorie deficit, 1 gram per lb of LBM is going to help you retain the most muscle mass. Which is everyone's recommendation. If you are not in a calorie deficit, you can drop it. I cannot find that piece now but will keep looking.

If I'm understanding you correctly, that's a bit lower than what these folks are recommending.

1 gram per pound of ideal bodyweight is a pretty good goal and hard to get for most people if you're not a fatty. For vegans especially.
