Alan Aragon

Turns out to be sexual harasser. What implied is quite ugly and obviously cannot be defended in any way, the speed and the character of his colleagues' reactions is fairly amusing to watch. Reminds me of the Soviet era purges: everyone has to come forward and kick the accused. And if you are smart you smear others along the lines as well.

Dude got handsy with employees and attendees at fitness conferences he was a speaker at for years, and didn’t back off when told to. Slow to apologize when called out, and thing got away from him.

well, I have changed my opinion of him now. I always found him to be a bit boring but actually he sounds like my kind of a guy.

Poor Martin, his book is a masterclass in narcissistic self indulgence, and of course he had to jump on Alan and start making odd and vague implications that may end up getting him sued for slander.

I got up to the part of Alan being a moderator somewhere. Does Martin ever say anything interesting?

Martin's book is a masterclass in narcissistic sociopathy. I am pretty sure there's not a page where he doesn't talk about how great he is.

He was always kind of that way, but I think him keeping so lean for so long resulted in his body cannibalizing some brain tissue for the fat in it. He went off the deep end a while ago, raving and ranting about both Alan Aragon and Lyle McDonald, but later took the letter down, although Lyle kept it up on his site.

Sadly, this stuff reminds me of the relentless time. I remember all of this - Martin's ascend to the Internet fame, followed by stagnation and his eventual breakdown. And now the comeback, if you can call it that. And this saga stretches back whole ten years!

Martin is a weak (or a lazy) writer. He keeps claiming to have put down the broscience, but this is false. Intermittent fasting is not his invention and it is not the panacea for getting ripped. His tone - "I am the only voice of reason in the fitness industry that is in a downward spiral" - is not even irritating anymore. Arrogance that is not based on some sort of skill is the worst kind.

I feel Martin is legitimately mentally ill.

IMO he undeniably took this from the woo-woo self improvement space to a legitimate tactic for the S&C community. I was an early client of his, and at the time nobody else was advocating this. A lot of bros came after him about 6-8 meals a day. Then people started appropriating his work.

You can't patent ideas, and if somebody doesn't like that, they should probably go do something else. But he was more or less the primary contributor for years on the subject. He's just his own worst enemy when it comes to a lot of things, and the book is about 9 years late.

It wasn't in the domain of some woo woo space, just wasn't marketed enough and wasn't in the fitness market. The first time I came across it was around 2008, Fast5 diet. It wasn't aggressively marketed. When it got to bodybuilding via - that's true - then it exploded. Even though it's at best a secondary tool for getting lean. And though there is no evidence that frequent eating is beneficial in any way for many trainees it has proven to be the solution for appetite control.

Neither was he a contributor, on IF or any other subject. His blog was never a source of decent amount of information. And when somebody started the Facebook group Martin blew his lid. That was hilarious.

I remember when you were, and the fast-5 guy was recommending this. Ori Hofmekler was recommending this. Robb Wolk had written a piece about this even before Martin even learned about it. Yeah, he ran with this ball hard

No doubt, Warrior Diet and Fast-5 both predate Martin.

...a “very normal” conversation that veered suddenly when he looked her in the eye and told her, repeatedly, “I so wanna smack that ass.”

“I was so confused. Is my brain playing tricks on me? Is this reality? Is this actually happening? It makes no sense,” Belmares said of the incident. Aragon laughed at Belmares’s confusion, then brushed her leg and said “Did I just touch your cooch? Because I would, you know. I would totally touch your cooch right now.”
Well, in his defense:

I just don't get why guys have to be idiots when they want to get laid. Aragon's celebrity status in the industry and decent looks (Shape will agree) were a good base for gaming women. He would have much better chance of getting a girl in bed by being a nice guy om top of that.
