I found the L-sit position made the last part of the the pullup much easier.

Also inverted rows to "fixation" or touching the chest seemed to help that last little bit of range of motion.

I can touch bar with chest, but can not fixate in this position. Not even one second.
I think here will help only bands and practice.

I'd mix in some inverted rows to wherever on the chest you want to fixate in the pullup. With feet elevated on the rows. And held for time.

I was there in my climbing days. Two things that helped
- Single arm lockoffs. Pull up, then let go with one hand and hold locked off while reaching up for imaginary next climbing hold.
- Typewriters. Do wide grip pullup, then repeatedly move chest from one hand to the other

Wanted to do a single arm pullup, but never got there.
Don’t believe everything you think.

Thanks guys, will try these methods, except this "Pull up, then let go with one hand and hold locked off..." this sounds somewhat fantastic right now, i know i will not be able to do this.
Typewriters, this is more doable for me, but i'll postpone them till do 2*10 regular pullups, i am still can not do 2*10, only 10,7 or even 10,6.
Rows with fixation i can add right now :)

The "typewriters" we called "judo pullups" and they work.

Also you can pull up to the top and then push back from the bar and then pull back toward the bar.

Also, just get up to the top on a stool and hold as long as possible in the desired position. Or do partial range reps at the top.

That top part felt like all rhomboids to me.

Gironda pullups are really good. As you pullup lean way back and try to touch your sternum to the bar. The end will feel like a pullover.

Accounts like this remind me of the fact that 90% of fitness is a narcissistic coping mechanism for mildly attractive women who are simultaneously struggling with their low self-esteem and need to look like they're still 29.

I recall Pavel weighing in on this long ago when I had a similar issue (mine was partly ROM related), and he recommended static holds and negatives, which I did from a barbell set at chest height on a squat rack. This worked well.
One of the downsides of the Internet is that it allows like-minded people to form communities, and sometimes those communities are stupid.

I found that decreasing the number of reps and increasing the sets works well for the quality of movement. So instead of trying to do 2 x 10 pull ups you can try sets of 5. Good quality reps, not using inertia etc. Also long rest between sets, 3 - 5 minutes.

It is almost as much a skill training drill as a strength one. What you learn is not to focus on holding yourself up, but to put your attention on locking your elbow in to your side. When you do that, you naturally hold yourself up.

The mind/body is a weird thing.

I think this area is hugely underexplored. I think there are many things which would be a lot easier if the right cues were used, and the right framing employed.

I had the luck or misfortune to be coached in basketball as a kid by some really really good former professional players. This post made me realize it was almost all cues. I think they saw the game as a sequence of cues now that I look back.

For me it was mostly not trying to get dunked on and avoiding elbows to the face and getting my legs cut.

It's probably fun to not be the 8th best guy on the court. I wouldn't know.

Relson Gracie often described jiu-jitsu to me like this, "he does X, I do Y...forever." In other words, he is constantly looking at the behavior of the opponent as a set of cues to indicate a prescribed technical response.
