WKC/AKC/Valery Fedorenko Strong Sport...Strong Lift?

Hey all.

Quick question - I was doing some research in the whole Kettlebell marathon thing. They are also offering the WKC Pentathlon as a competition event.

I seem to remember Valery Fedorenko creating some type of kettlebell strong sport? Something like that? Was this the same thing as the pentathlon? I don't remember.

Okay - I went deep into the google and this is what i found.

Strongsport - 2 lifts. 1 arm jerk. 1 arm clean. 4:00 minute set with 1 hand switch. 32kg and up.
I guess there was not a long cycle option, but I don't see why not.

There was a long cycle option and a biathlon, as noted above, option.

Weights began at 32kg and went up from there to 48kg, I think. Goal for LC rank was 8 rpm or better. Biathlon was 12 rpm or better for each lift.

Kettlebell Pentathlon (AKC)

The Worlds best test of Physical Capacity and Athleticism is now a Sport! If you've not yet heard of Valery Fedorenko's Strength & Conditioning Quotient, you will. This human performance test devised by the Chief Advisor of World Kettlebell Club® that has been used by professional Coaches around the World to evaluate their team, clients or personel is introduced as a Sport at this years World Kettlebell Lifting Championships™ ! NO QUALIFICATION NECESSARY.

This new Event is a battery of 5 exercise over a period of 50 minutes total with 5 minute rest periods between the 6 minute exercise sets. The exercises are 1-arm lifts and the Lifter can switch hands at any time. Each weight of kettlebell has a value, and each exercise has a max repetition rule, so choosing the correct weight versus reps is important to your total score. You may use from 8kg to infinity and vary the weights used in each exercise. The exercises in order are:

Exercise #1: Clean (max 20rpm)

Exercise #2: Long Cycle Press (max 10rpm)

Exercise #3: Jerk (max 20rpm)

Exercise #4: Half Snatch (max 18rpm)

Exercise #5: Push Press (max 20rpm)

Pretty much that was VFs and Liford’s explanation of it. That said, it’s a pretty damn good workout.

As a competition event it makes sense structurally and opens the sport up to more people.

For my own self, I would probably structure it like this
clean
push press
half snatch
jerk
long cycle jerk (instead of long cycle press)...Or maybe even a long cycle overhead anyhow. Just to mix it up. And maybe to get even nuttier cap the reps for it at 20 per minute....
