Most expensive KBs ever?

Post by aussie luke » Sun May 24, 2020 2:02 am

SF have picked now of all times to start selling their own-branded kettlebells.

As you would of course expect they’re ridiculously fucking expensive. But these are ecoated and will last forever... so they won’t end up on the big pile of broken rusty kettlebells at the bottom of the yard.

And at a time when Rogue are making bells in the US again, these are obviously made in China and shipping is massively delayed with no clear guide on when any will be available. “US specced” though.

And as always the social media PR is top notch.

Don’t appear to come with any free facemasks though.

Not that I’ve ever heard of. But these ones definitely won’t because they’re “gravity cast”

Luke, I put the final comment in about 24 hours ago on Saturday AM. I can't believe it hasn't been removed

$208 + shipping for a 32 kg. Did Ducane join StrongFirst?

I own two DD bells. I bought them here in Australia and they were a bit expensive, as everything like that is here, but there also wasn’t a lot of other options either.

They are great quality bells but I’ve had to sand the coating off the handles on both of them because they were always somehow slick and textured at the same time. Clearly they will last forever.

Things have improved here over the years and recently also bought a 48kg from a local distributor - not a DD but an unbranded version of what now seems to be the generic powder coated Chinese bells that Rogue and Kettlebell Kings sell.

It is infinitely better than the DD bells. Flawless shape and flawless grippy finish.

I’m sure these bells are available even cheaper in the US with various branding - and I have no idea why any company would bother to try and make their own bells now - and then worse try and flog them at double the price knowing that only a limited number of suckers will pay that premium for that logo.

Feels like real contempt for your fans there tbh

They’re getting a lot of heat about the price on FB and IG. And as usual the customer relations is top notch

We have a local foundry that’s now doing dumbbells and kettlebells. I plan on picking up some DBs soon and have spoken with them about creating some heavier KBs, as they only go to 45 lbs currently. If I have to pick a traditional non sport KB then I’d rather use them.

The SF bell prices are fucking ridiculous.

Anyone remember the old dragondoor "how our kettlebells are made" section in the ETK book?

My nips are getting hard just thinking about it.

Then they almost immediately started selling the red colored bells made in CCP. Then shortly after all production was given to the Chinese.

After somebody posted about adjustable competition bells, I saw competitors that actually really like them. KB Kings sells them for $275/pp. I found some Chinese factories making them on Alibaba. Cheap, but shipping kills you. If I find a workaround I will post.

SF is being absurd.
One of the downsides of the Internet is that it allows like-minded people to form communities, and sometimes those communities are stupid.

You can get a perfectly machined 32 kg competition kettlebell from Kettlebell Kings for $179 made of unbreakable steel.

He mentioned it again today.

All out of stock or on back order. You know the foundry is in China.
