Sorry to hear about your old man, Odin. I hope you are doing well under the circumstances.

Your training seems to cover all the bases one could wish for so good job on that!
It seems that the meditation/pranayama aspect of your training has a central focus. Any specific reason for that? What do you do in that hour or however much it is?

Thanks Xian, nice to hear from you again. My meditation at the moment is evolving but usually follows this route;
Sequential body scan and relaxation
Pranayama with a mantram
Middle pillar ritual

I had been doing a lot of insight/broad focus stuff but recently (possibly following the bereavement actually) I can’t stand it and am drawn more to energy type practices. This is all work drawn from Israel Regardie’s 12 steps manual. I’ve never looked at the western tradition previously but a few things have drawn me to it and tbh I’ve had some really strong experiences following this method.

How is your practice going?

Thanks Odin, sounds interesting. The proof is in the pudding, glad to hear it gives you something tangible. I have never done anything from the western tradtitions - I find it daunting to try to immerse myself in yet another tradition. Chasing two rabbits at the same time and all that. Do you find it similar to the more eastern based techniques you have practiced? Is all of your practice seated or what position do you use? Is it a specific pranayama classic pranayama you use?

I have returned to seated meditation after several years without it where I have focused on taiji and yiquan - and a lot of standing meditation to that end. But I miss the benefits of the seated stuff. Just doing basic breath folowing zazen style ATM.

Enjoy you holiday! They always end to soon.

They do! Back home now with a feeling of dread like the bad old days....

It’s mostly seated with some lying stuff and fairly familiar pranayama practices

I actually hadn’t spotted pavels new book but coincidentally had read an article on breakingmuscle about using a long rest, power bias protocol applied to CrossFit. The strong first community make this sound as complex as fuck and like it will cure bad AIDS, but putting that aside, it seemed a nice way of doing some varied work on a near daily basis without burning out. I am also very low carb at the moment so this fits nicely.
