Yesterday I went to the doctor. I'd made the appointment because of vision problems which had persisted for the last three to four weeks. I had done a little research on the internets, and what I had found, I hadn't liked.

At the doctor's office my corrected vision was 20-70. My glucose was 426.
I had no other symptons except for the intermittent fatigue which has made my workouts inconsistent. But I thought-- shit-- every fat old guy gets tired.

The doctor ordered me up an insulin shot. She gave me a prescription for actoplusmet: 15mg pioglitazone HCL and 850mg metformin. I was also given a prescription for a glucose meter. The doctor told me it could take a bout six weeks of medication to get my blood sugar down and for my vision to clear up. I am scheduled to go back Friday 5/11 for further evaluation and further information on diabetes classes.

After the doctor left the nurse told me it could be as quick as two weeks for my eyes and stable blood sugar since I'm otherwise pretty healthy. She said the doctor probably didn't want to be over optimistic but she said I was in a lot better shape than most people my age that find out they have diabetes. She said if I lost a little weight I could probably control everything with diet and exercise. She said I should resume my weight work.

So I'll see what happens Friday; I'll ask the doc about going back on the Mahlersexual program.

According to the American Diabetes Association these are the typical symptoms:
Frequent urination
Excessive thirst
Extreme hunger
Unusual weight loss
Increased fatigue
Irritability
Blurry vision

Any increase in fatigue I migh of had was unquantifiable. The only one I can say I had for sure is blurry vision.

Tuesday 5-8-07, 10:00pm glucose 469 mg/dl

Wednesday 5-9-07, 6:00am, glucose 390
4:00pm 25:00 hilly walk w/ Mrs Beef

I'm going back to Mahler's Fat Loss/ Mental Toughness routine tomorrow. I'm going to restart using the 24kgs for now.

I've been checking Craigslist and Play It Again Sports for a quality used rower. Last time I was under 200 I was using a rowing ergometer regularly (plus I want to be like my hero Gav).
