Guitar practice: fingers are finally toughening up enough to hit a good F chord, which has eluded me to play cleanly.
One good local IPA before dinner-funny, I think the slight buzz on an empty stomach made my fingers hurt less, haha. Years ago, I noticed that a couple of drinks really improved my ability to play jazz on piano.

Ms. Fish is playing my modest little post-industrial hometown's outdoor concert series June 6. Mrs Beef is not as enthused as I am.

She was just here in Harrisburg, Saturday night. Wife also not enthused about a midnight show in H-burg late at night. Too bad we can't do a bro-date. I'm seriously considering making my own oil can guitar after watching her. My SIL has a cigar box made by some local guy who's supposed to be the King at making them.

11/17-Friday, update on doing next to nothing
Injured my already ailing r.shoulder this past August falling backwards out of grandkids' pool while playing Marco polo. Kind of hard to explain. Just recd MRI results-one completely torn rotator tendon, one partially torn, and two still intact, plus moderate arthritic wear and tear. Surgeon apt. on 11/27-same guy who fixed the left one. On top of that, I'm headed in for Ct scan next wednesday on my chest/rib/lung surgery site of 3 years ago. been complaining to two different docs, they're finally doing something. Something definitely feels "off" in there. In the meantime, still walking and riding bikes almost every day. My four year old grandson is a terror on the bike, mostly to grandma and his mom. He's crazy fast and a natural on a bike. I told wife, in about two years, I may not be able to keep up with him. He can climb hills in single speed that I have to down shift to lower gears.

DT's new log

Post by DikTracy6000 » Mon May 07, 2018 2:59 pm

5/7/18-Mon
As I'm just about finished with my phy. therapy for 2nd shoulder/bicep surgery, will restart my log. Still in the rebuilding strength mode to right side. My surgeon did a bang up great job again and rehab has gone better than last time 13 years ago. Still fighting a problem in my side/rib area from prev. lung surgery. Docs say it's all okay? Maybe I'm just a pussy.

For now will focus on walking, bike riding and light dumbbell work. Been using my PT's personal TRX and that has intrigued my interest in getting one. I may steal Beefheart's idea of logging my guitar practice as he has unknowingly been my inspiration for taking up guitar in my retirement, and I freaking love it. Started April '17 minus about 2 months for shoulder d.t.

7/17/18-Tuesday
Been doing grease the groove pullups for the last couple weeks, as my rebuilt shoulder/bicep is healing. Doc said it will take a year. Started with half-pullups, then a week ago, I surprised myself and did one full-wt. pullup to get my chin above the bar. Since then been doing two to three sets of 4-5 singles and finished with a few more half-pullups and holds.
Also doing incline pushups, but did one regular, and then two pushups over the weekend. These are more challenging. Talked to a phy therapist about trying to rebuild my damaged rib area strength that hasn't properly knit since lung surgery in '14. On next dr. visit I may ask if he can write a script, so Insurance helps to pick up that tab. Enjoying the process. My only leg work has been walking & mostly short bike rides.
