I will up it to 8.3mph soon. I read a story that the Marine Corps may change the pft and cft scoring. The run would get easier but pull ups would get harder. 19:30 would be the max for the run and 23 pull ups would be required to max. Right now 2% of Marines max the pft and 20% max the cft.

Just curious, how do you adjust your mph by .1 mph; shave off a few seconds per mile? Is 19:30 for 3 miles? 23 pullups is no walk in the park.DPR wrote:10 Apr 16

I hadn't run in a couple of weeks, so I took it easy. I will do more next time. I have been doing greasing the groove with pullups. I currently do 8 per set, but I will keep adding reps. Maybe test a max after doing sets of 10 for a while? I would like to get to sets of 12 or more.

I usually run on a treadmill and it is easy to make small improvements without noticing. If I stay consistent with my running, I can run 3 miles under 20 minutes. I haven't maxed a PFT in 15 years, but the new changes could motivate me to train hard for it again.

Cleans with light weights. I am trying to learn a new technique which keeps the hands close to the body. As I drop the weight, my elbows come back. Keeping the hands close to the body on the way up is more challenging, but it will save my grip.

The run wasn't a max effort. Less than 2 months left to take my PFT. I plan to keep my current running program after the PFT is complete. I usually take time off.

Horse Stance  60 sec w/things parallel to the floor
Jerks felt good. The plan is to work towards 3 sets of 3 min. Front squats were deliberately easy. I will gradually make this more challenging. I will work towards a 5 min horse stance. 1 min was not fun.

Snatches are improving. Weights felt heavier today. A few seconds days break will help. I had a small tear on my left palm. It was either because of humidity or bad technique. Add a third set w/20kg next time?

I am trying to do Pavel's fighter pullup program for a month along with dynamic stretches in the morning. I will keep doing kettle bell workouts. I am not approaching failure on any set.
