Volume snatch day has returned.

Snatch
30 x 2
30 x 2
35 x 2
35 x 2
40 x 2
40 x 2
44 x 2
44 x 2
46.5 x 2
50 x 1, 1
56 x miss (too big of a jump for snatching)
52 x 1, 1
54 x 1, 1
56 x 1, 1 (1kg training PR)

Snatch Starts
56 x 6
65 x 5
75 x 3

Back Squat
45 x 5
55 x 5

Ab Bench
30# x 15 x 3

Concept 2 Rower
10 minutes while watching Pumping Iron.

Some stats: Since starting Oly last July I have gained 15lbs (probably 20), gained 1/4 inch on my thighs, 2 inches on my back, yet my waist/pants/shirt size has stayed the same or improved somewhat.

The return of honest to fucking lesbian jesus actual heavy lifting. Fuck. JYES.

Clean
35 x 2
40 x 2
45 x 2
50 x 2
55 x 1, 1
57 x 1, 1
60 x 1
62 x 1
65 x 1
67 x 1, 1 (fairly certain that's a training PR)

I'll have video of the cleans tomorrow.

FSQ + Jerk
45 x 2 + 1
45 x 2 + 1
55 x 2 + 1
55 x 2 + 1

Pretty sure these were designed specifically to torture supers. They aren't really hard, but the squatting takes away just enough of the pop on the jerk to be annoying.

FSQ
65 x 2
80 x 2
85 x 2

Clean Pulls (high box)
65 x 5
75 x 4
85 x 2
90 x 2

Seated Shoulder Press
8kg KB x 20 x 2 sets

Ab Bench
20# x 20 x 2 sets

Stretching.
Ice.

Thanks! The cleans are coming along, I'm happy with them.

A video of my snatch wouldn't be hosted by YouTube. Unless you meant the barbell lift, but I'm sure you didn't.

60 x 5
60 x 5

Incline DB Bench
30# x 6 x 4 sets

Hypers
15 x 2 sets

And then my coach's awesome wife made me BBQ ribs and sent me home with orange slices.

This was the crappiest training session I've had in forever.

Snatch from blocks
30 x 2
35 x 2
37 x 2
42 x 2
45 x 2
48 x 1, 1, 1 (had *all* of these at the catch and then lost them at the bottom)
50 x 1

Power Clean & Jerk
35 x 2 + 1
40 x 2 + 1
45 x 2 + 1
50 x 2 + 1
54 x 2 + 1
60 x 2 + 1

FSQ
60 x 2
60 x 2
60 x 2
60 x 2
60 x 2

Push Press
45 x 5
45 x 5
45 x 5

Ab Bench
25 x 15 x 2 sets

Mentally jacked up for this training session for a variety of reasons. Everything was forward on my toes, or my shoulders were shooting up. My hands were ridiculously sore (I need to start taping again) and my knee started popping. I think part of the break down may have to do with the fact that I'm not eating enough, so I'm going to up my protein this week and see what happens.

This is a tale of how to turn a potential lifting FAIL into a lifting WIN. (Also a story about how my coach is awesome and adaptable).

Supposed to be heavy clean day. I have the *perfect* Joan Jett-heavy mix playing, warm-ups go well, shoulder not bothering me for the first time in FOREVAH. First clean at 35 is snappy, second clean at 35 and my knee blows up at the bottom. Grab the biofreeze and give it a good rub (that's what she said), approach the bar to take 42 and I can't get into starting position without being stabbed in the top of my knee cap. I HAZ MAJOR SADFACE ------> :(

Coach sez: Cleans from the HIGH high blocks we will do, but quick you must be, young Jedi. Work off your percentages from the floor, we will. If clean 65 you do, punch you in the ovary I will.
Me: Heh. I got this.

So, we start over. Cleans from the HIGH high blocks (mid-thigh... no room for anything but insanely quick hip extension and a naaaaasty pull). 35, 42, 48 for doubles 51, 54, 58, 61, and then 65 for triples. All power. BAM.

McKenna then calls me a motherfucker and insinuates that I'm going to nationals on a 60 snatch and a 100 clean and jerk at this rate.

Followed by:

Step ups
40kg x 20 x 3 sets

Standing Shoulder Press
20kg x 5 l/r x 3 sets

Hypers
3 sets of 15

Ab Bench
25# x 15 x 3 sets

slowly, slowly catch a monkey

Light week, only going to 80% Knee pain from the last session is due to a quad strain, wrapped it in an ace bandage and had no problems tonight.

Snatch
30 x 2
35 x 2
38 x 2
43 x 2
47 x 1, 1
50 x 1
52 x 1
47 x 1, 1, 1, 1

Back Squat -I just got done telling someone I don't do these any more. Apparently they're making a comeback.
45 x 3
55 x 3
65 x 3
75 x 3 - ridiculously deep. Ass on ankles deep. Huh, I might actually be a weightlifter.

Push Press
35 x 3
45 x 3
50 x 3
50 x 3
50 x 3
3 reps? 5 reps? I can't remember.

Swiss ball abs
10kg plate x 15 x 2 sets

stretching, Mike's wife's pot roast, and then a long winding ride home.

Team workout at the DAC on Sunday.

East Coast Gold team workout at the DAC. Doctor Hottie McThickerson in attendance. Remarkably nice and humble man who makes me want to eat vegetables and do charity work. He was wearing remarkably loose shorts that kept creeping up his extraordinarily thick thighs while he was snatching and... what was I saying?

Oh yeah. I PR'd. A bunch.

Clean & Jerk
35 x 2 + 1
40 x 2 + 1
45 x 2 + 1
50 x 1 + 1
55 x 1 + 1
60 x 1 + 1
65 x 1 + 1
70 x 1 + miss
75 x 1
80 x 1 (PR)
85 x clarked the ever loving fuck out of it.

FSQ
70 x 2
77.5 x 2
80 x 2
85 x 2
90 x 2 (I think this is a PR, I need to check back.)
55 x 3

OH Press
35 x 3 x 5 sets

Thank you.

Upon further inspection of my log, the front squat is a PR as well. I should have put 100 on the bar.

Snatch (High high blocks)
30 x 2
35 x 2
38 x 2
40 x 2
42 x 2
45 x 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1

Snatch Pulls (high high blocks)
45 x 3
50 x 3
55 x 3
60 x 1, 1, 1
65 x 1, 1, 1

Back Squat (posture check at the bottom)
45 x 5
50 x 5
55 x 5

Incline DB Bench (lbs)
35 x 6 x 4 sets

Face Pulls
pink band x 20

Ab Bench (lbs)
20 x 20 x 2

stretching

Mmmmph. Hips are fucking sore. Upper back is sore. Abbzzz are sore. There was no speed today. This high high blocks business is vexing me. It's meant to be a quick movement that I am turning into two quick movements... which is not right. Having a hard time getting full extension; too much power out of my hips and then bam! The bar is already turning over so I don't *need* to extend all the way. Mostly I am far too uncoordinated for this sport, and yet I keep trying. Practice, practice.

Before the end of this training cycle (May 7th), I will front squat 100 kilos.

Last night: Walk, 1 hr. I've come around to the idea of a long walk as a body diagnostic/loosening tool. Also great for my head as moving meditation.

Today: Foam rolling, stretching, quad rehab, advil, ice. I need the chiro this week.

Left quad is healing well, wrapping with the rehband sleeve over it while training has cleared up the instability/woobly issue. I've been eating like a goddamn pig this week and I'm still losing weight. So, I suppose the furnace is hot enough. Oly ftw.

I've found this to the case with me as well.

Everything hurts at first but then it goes away and everything feels better. Plus it's hard to beat as a fat loss tool that doesn't interfere with the weights.
