Was up on call from 11p to 5a with a student in the ER who had attempted suicide unsuccessfully, thank god, so no early morning workout except some dynamic stretching to work out the kinks. Later in the day, I went to the school weight room and banged out 20 pullups.

Hindu Squats
Hindu Pushups
Waist Twister
Cossack Squats
Body Circles
TRX one arm plank rows

Thanks brother! I am working on figuring some things out.

2014.09.12

Had to be here early for a meeting with a student. I didn't do any morning physical exercise due to the cramped time. She no showed. ARRRGGGGHHHHHHH! whatever.

BUT! I did make time to do about 10:00 of mobility and body loosening and 10:00 of vipassana. I need to keep logging this here as I need to do it every day.

The silver lining- I get to train some jiujitsu tomorrow while someone watches the on-call phone for me.

This understanding applies to all things...

Open mat rolling with my brown belt partner Ryan. Keeping it loose and getting some exercise. During breaks in play I showed him some of the BJJ over 40 stuff with Roy Harris. Following open mat we drilled sitting guard stuff and then I rolled with Professor for 20 minutes and got crushed. How fun!

open mat- worked with 250# purple belt Keir. Really helped me shore up some holes in my game. Working on pressure from half guard bottom. Changing angles for guard retention. Swept him several times and tapped him for the first time in my career. Excellent session. No gi class was a collar/wrist set up to an osotogari. Followed by guillotine set ups from side control and tons of footlocks. Sparring hard to follow. Everyone is getting ready for Five Grappling in Chicago in mid October and is looking ready.

bjj- open mat rolling with my new project ryan. Defensive positioning and playing loose and light in the beginning and ramping up intensity as the hour went on. Had a chance to work some dynamic guard structure and transition.
Professor's class- single leg entry to a variety of finishes.
Side control bottom escape to triangle
KOB escape to sweep
20:00 roll with professor. He crushed me. I used to avoid sparring with him. Now I seek it out every time I get a chance.

Open mat: 60:00 rolling and analysis with my new brown belt project. We specifically worked on guard passing and angles of entry and the accompanying footwork. We have also been attacking feet and legs with fury. It was a good hour of exercise. No gi class was solid drilling at a fast pace for the cardio effect. Leg drag pass, Spin pass, Near side arm lock from side control, d'arce from turtle. Some more rolling.

2 hours of jiujitsu. Open mat rolling concentrating on taking the back from the butterfly and x-guards and finishing from there. Professor's class had us work on the footwork for kouchi-gari and then taking the back from side control and finishing with a variety of choking options.

open mat- His Imperial Supple Leopard was able to train today in spite of a crazy schedule and other demands. He stated "I want to roll. Hard." Being that was an offer I couldn't refuse, I obliged and had one of the hardest sparring sessions I have ever had. Every moment was like the final seconds of the world championships. I left utterly exhausted but complete. No gi class was a challenge being depleted. But I did it anyway, collar and wrist set up to the guillotine, stockades from side control and the north-south choke and more hard sparring.

2014.10.10

I had to skip a day of training as I was in St. Louis for a seminar and had to be on the road at 6 a.m.

2014.10.11

2 hours of jiujitsu and judo. My drop seionage is improving by leaps and bounds.
