back and abs today. need to double up this week as my inlaws are descending on thursday. excited to finally buy a fitted saddle (fitted to me and my horse) tomorrow. Considering giving up all this lifting shit to pursue endurance horse racing. This is 50-100 mile rides which require Rider to get off and run or walk alongside horse over rough Terrain or when horse gets tired. cutting weight will also help with this.

Shoulders and horse riding. This is my second cut week and starting to see some of the fluff come off. I am actually a little heavier on the scale that I was in January, but leaner overall and have put some size on my upper back and shoulders. Upping cardio this coming week.

horse, legs, and cardio today. going to throw later if the heat isnt too bad.

edited to add:

throws went great. Hit some lifetime prs just warming up. Most notably, 58 feet on light weight for distance. Bigger back means bigger throws.

Throwing practice:

Braemar with 23 lb stone, 24 feet
Braemar with 9 lb stone, 29 feet (couldn't get much more out of a glide, so need to work on this again tomorrow)
HWFD: 29 feet, it was raining and it kept slipping out of my glove so only took about 4 of these.
LWFD: 60 feet, awesome!!! Huge pr. Took about 20 throws.
Heavy hammer: 55 feet, pr
Light hammer: 68 feet, not a pr, but further than I've thrown in a few years.
WOB: Bar was set at 11 feet and I cleared it by at least 2.

Overall, everything felt good, but my knees are a little tender on stones, another reason I may just braemar my open stone if we have open stone at the games.

Will hit caber tomorrow. They don't do sheaf on Grandfather Mountain on Friday, so not going to worry about it.

Thanks!

Second day of throwing. I woke up very very very sore in all the right places. Ie, my butt, my upper back, and my legs. No actual pain, though, as in the bad kind of pain. As expected, my throws were kind of shitty today, but I wasn't worried about it, just practiced form and timing. Two more days of gym training and then I deload.

So I was really sore and weak today. decided to just do some back, legs, and abs and call it a week. Need to recover the next few days so just going to take it easy and stretch and not get fat.

So, went riding today and yesterday. Funny enough, my very good posture is too rigid and so I've been having to "slouch", ie relax in the saddle to get the horse to relax. Its really weird, but he goes so easy now, I'm going to have to get used to it. We got him cantering today and he did great. Going to compete on Friday and then will be at the beach for a week so I hope he remembers everything he learned when I get back. :)

so, fucked up my right hip slipping on the wet floor wednesday night. it made my right knee unstable. got it mostly back to normal with an adjustment and drugs, but it made my distance throws a bit unstable.

regardless, placed fourth amongst the monsters at my Games on Friday, lots of prs and my first caber turn in two years. also, hit 12 feet on wob for the first time in two years. not sure if i will be light enough to throw as a lightweight next month but either way am looking forward to throwing again on august 25th.

Taught Colt to jump today. Was exciting to say the least. He also learned briefly how to try and buck me off and that it wasnt a good idea. (No strict correction required, he responds well to me being disappointed in him. Just lifted his head and told him no.) Working on dropping my shoulders and having a more relaxed posture.

abs and glutes/hams day. I was really pleased today because even though I've been doing some deadlifts with my workouts today I worked up to 205 for a set of six. I haven't lifted over 165 in probably at least a year and the truth is I didn't feel that hard, it was more challenging to my grip than my legs. So that felt really good.
