i've concentrated on the rowing for 10 years. i've covered lots of meters and achieved mediocre results.

thanks for the good wishes. i know some decent canucks--used to have a few as teammates, back when i played hockey.

If you pull 350, I'll get a union job, vote Dem and do my best to smuggle Ms. Upton your way. Incentives all around.

Good luck DMW.

25 march

deadlift comp--masters nationals and the new england powerlifting championships. sounds big time, but i'm not so sure. 100% raw powerlifting federation.

yesterday, i weighed in at 216, clothed.

today, i opened with 130 kg (286 american pounds), then 145 kg (319) and got up 160 (352) for my final lift. it went up steadily, albeit slowly. a lot like work.

a number of lifters, mostly big girls, broke national and "world" records. my impression is the record breaking may be more a matter of their being a bunch of different powerlifting federations, as there are in boxing, than a matter of truly world class performance. one guy at 220 pulled 672ish, which was declared a record. he was genuinely stout and that looked like real weight on the bar.

in any case, i lost my cherry. perhaps i'll chase 400 pounds.

thanks guys.

baffled, if you're sufficiently skilled, you might want to consider union work. but it's ok if you're fulfilled mopping the floors at the boxing gym.
