-My quad has been extra tight since Wednesday, and my leg even gave out towards the end of Wednesday night while walking home about a mile. Fortunately it held out until the last block. Tendon was screaming on the last few sets of squats.

-I’ve got a vacation coming up (Minneapolis and Duluth) next Thursday. So a few workouts early next week and then I don’t know what. A lot of stretching and pushups, I guess. When I get back, I may switch things up a bit. Two lifting days (squat/press/row and TBDL/press/row), two cardio days (with chin ups), and a day of sleds, sandbags, and carries. I don’t know for sure yet.

-Last night after work, my quad tightened up so much that every time i straightened my leg it felt like my kneecap might off. It’s better now, but I need to stay on it.

While squatting Friday, I felt a pop at the knee like cracking a knuckle. The pain started 10 hours later. Shooting from the patellar tendon down into the knee cap when straightening my leg or standing from a seated (squat) position.
Spoke with HVLN yesterday and called my doc today. I’m going in on Wednesday.
Today, I went into the gym, told Hans what was happening, and did the following:
Recumbent bike for 5 minutes (Hans’ suggestion), hamstring and quad stretch, hip mobility, single leg balancing, TKEs (went to a lighter band), more stretching, stripper squats (felt some pain on some reps), and neutral grip pull ups (5x10)
Then Hans stretched me out and did some voodoo flossing on me. I feel about 1000x better than I did this morning.

So, quick anatomy lesson: that was the quad tendon. My doc thinks it’s torn. Submitted for an MRI, and because I have good insurance and he has a good relationship with the imaging place he’s pretty sure I’ll be in this weekend and we can see exactly what’s going on.
I’m thinking this injury was caused by the fAct that my quads and hips are so damn tight. So I have to take a giant step backwards and address that. It’s probably time to get back under 200lbs, too. I’m thinking 195, and maybe do a little research into programming with the ski erg.

From the MRI: “Tendinosis of the distal semimembranosus tendon associated with semimembranosus bursitis containing loose bodies, and prominent osteophyte in the medial tibial plateau. Findings suggest old injury

Been having trouble posting, let’s see if this works.

Saw my surgeon last week. He wasn’t keen on removing the cyst again, and neither was I. So he aspirated it instead. The one I had last year was “maybe the bigger bakers cyst ever.” This time it was even bigger.
He said not to worry about the tendonosis as the cyst was on the tendon and with it gone it will stop acting as an irritant.
Had visits from two nephews, a 20 year old college rugby player who taught to log press and load atlas stones. Then his 12 year old brother, who was exhausting. Ate way more ice cream than I should

Going to get back to working in a similar fashion as before, but really focus more on posterior chain. And I’m going to drop weight, down to about 195. (At 205 now)
