Thursday, I did something, I forget what it was.

Friday: Stone over bar 135 x 5 x3 sets, 240 x1, 240 x1, 240 x1, 240 x1, 240 x5

Little tire x2 (about 400-500 pounds?) (all as a part of demonstrating for my friend who's entering a novice contest May 12).

Saturday: Snatch 50, 60, 70, 80, 90 x2; 95 x2, 100 x2, 105 x2
Clean + press (no rest between sets) 60 x1+10; 70 x1+10, 80 X1+5, 90 X1+5, 100 X1+3

I weighed myself on Sunday, as I thought I'd been doing well with my diet, and I generally have. I weighed in at 349. That pissed me off. I know I've lost a shit ton of weight, which makes me wonder how much I did weigh when I started to lose. I used to estimate I weighed 360, but now I think the over/under was 375.

The good news about the weight, though, is that most of my problems with injuries, mobility, and aches and pains are due to the extra weight. I lift much better under 330, and I feel better around 315.

Snatches were shit so I stopped them at 80. Did 50, 60, 70, 80 x2 from the hang, then I went to the power rack to squat. So, in pounds: 135/225/315/405 x5. I felt better. Then push press; 60, 90, 100 kgx5. Hypers, jump rope, and stretch.

Saturday, felt good. Nice effective warm up: some bodyweight squats and minor rolling. Snatch 50, 60, 70 80, x4, 92x1x4 sets. That's 80% or so. Cl+ jerks to 110: 70,80,90,100,110x4 reps at each weight. BS 70, 90, 110,150, 170x3.
For some unknown reason, I decided to do my sled on my grass instead of the driveway. Crap. 300 pound sled up and down my yard, 120 yards total give or take. Five stops. When I hit the driveway it moved like it was on rulers.

Today, bodyweight day. Blast strap push ups 2x20, rows 2x20, curlswith fat gripz on the handles 2x20, truro extensions 2x20, hypers 2x20, stability basso crunches 3x20, grappler with combat handle and a 10 kg plate 3x10, airdyne 20 minutes, stretch and roll.

Re: Running the fat away

Post by I dig big chicks » Wed Sep 26, 2012 9:31 pm

After a lazy ass summer, I started running a couple weeks ago. At first, only short sprints, etc. Now, 1/2 mile at a time, three times a week. This week will be my first week for three times. It fucking sucks. I weighed in at 360 pounds a month ago, and I'd lost weight before then. I'm 50 pounds over my best competition weight, and running always pulls the weight off.

Someone on this forum gave me this advice: Even if you can't run a longer distance, just keep moving. A half mile run followed up by another mile or two of walking will do far more for you and get your body used to covering that kind of distance. Eventually, you'll be able to jog parts of it and maybe even the whole distance.

That's what I did the first day, a total of 4.5 miles. Wednesday I did a 1/2 mile walk then a 1/2 mile run. Today, 1/2 mile walk, 1/2 mile run.

Next week, I add distance. Anywhere form 1/4 to 1/2 mile more, I need to see how I feel. I like adding increments of 1/2 mile every two weeks. It's a plan.

Also, hiking is great this time of the year. Birds are migrating, the Eagles are easier to spot, and the wife and 5 year old will go with me.

Tuesday a.m. Jump rope Ladder: 25/50/75/100/125/150/125/100/75/50/25

Diet: scale of 1 (bad)-5 (good), 3

SN Grip press 50 x5x3

I'm too lazy to set up the scale, though I guess my BW to be about 160 kg. My kinesthetic awareness is shit.

Wednesday: off, took my Dad to the neurologist. Drove 1.5 hours there, drove 1/2 hour to the doc and back, ate lunch with my parents and wife and daughter, drove to Lancaster, PA to train a client, drove home an hour.

Diet: 1

Speaking of WOB, are you up for the end of April one again? I will be bringing some newbs to the competition. I think we should get BD to come and y'all can go head to head. What could be more fun?

And Snatch grip, for any and all advice on this board regarding weightlifting, this guy is your man. He is a coach, competitor, instructor, etc. and has a lot of good lifters.

snatch grip, I do. I'm spending the first four weeks of getting back by doing vary basic stuff. I'm programming like this:

Oly lift,
Squat,
Press,
Stretching/ Mobility work

a.m. work is sprints, jump rope, etc.

One, hopefully two, days/ week will be LSD, probably on an Airdyne, maybe running, maybe walking.

I'm in. I'll have implements for Jezzie and the Wife of the Gym to play with in a month or two. I also want a new kilt.

You mean since Sigi is busy these days? Thank you. You guys know your shit. I've just been in the presence of greats and remember most of it.

Thursday:
Power Cleans: 70x2, 95x2, 100x2, 105x2, 110x2
Muscle Snatch (from the ground, shadowing one of my lifters as he did normal snatches, I shadowed him on the cleans as well)) 50x2x2, 55x2x2, 60x2x3, 65x2
FS70x3, 90x3, 110x3, 140x3

Saturday:

Kettlebell 5x5 (w/ 20kg bells, the heaviest pair I have; I would have liked to use 24s):
2 hand swing, 2 hand snatch, 2 hand c+j, front squat

It fucking sucked huge balls.

I realize that my two biggest issues are weight and shoulder mobility. I really hit the shoulders today, focusing on an all around stretching routine and loosening up the pec, pec minor, delts, lats, traps, etc. Lax ball and Theracane suck balls, there's significant discomfort. Nothing injurious, just tightness. I have about a week of serious woodworking left building eight sets of Jerk Boxes, and woodworking always fries my shoulders.

a.m. Hill Sprints x10, long stretch/roll/mobility session while coaching. Shoulders doing better. Lots of tp release, pnf stretches, etc.

p.m. Power Clean +split jerk 70x2+1(2), 90x2+1(2), 100x2+1(2), 110x2+1(2). Hands stayed on the bar the whole time, every lift. 'Tis an accomplishment.
BS 70x5, 120x5,170x5.
Press 70x8, 80x5, 90x3. All thumbless. Much less shoulder stress.

Airdyne x10 minutes

I warmed up for the first time. It helped the shoulders. I also stretched and rolled at the end.

Started to think about goals. Then I stopped. My goal is to keep training and see what happens.

Edit: the weights are in kilos.

Mickey's signature makes it difficult to focus.

A.m. Reverse pyramid jump rope: 150,125,125,100,100,75,75,50,50,25,25. Rolled and stretched for a while. Paid lots of attention to the shoulders.

P.m. Good warm up, did the first full cleans since I started training three weeks ago.

Cl 70x2,70x2,90x2,90x2,100x2,110x2,120x2
FS70,90,110,130,160x3
Sn grip push press 70,80,90,100x5

Stretched and rolled. Good day.

A.m. Sprints; 20-40 yards, about 10 involving a hill, some on flat ground, some on a slight decline. 16/17 in total. Went through a field behind the house and up one of the hills; it was much steeper than anticipated.

P.m.

Power snatch 50x2,50x2,60x2,60x2,70x2,70x2,80x2,80x2,90miss. Shoulder wasn't right, I didn't push it.

Back Squats ( in pounds, crowded room tonight so I went to the power rack instead of a platform)135,225,315,405x3.

One arm kb press, Olga x 4x6 (Olga is my 32, Jezzie named her)

No stretching. Too much stress, my day needs to be done. I was backwards cueing my athletes tonight.
