Slow but steady

Post by Gene » Mon Oct 08, 2012 3:31 am

October 07 2012 - 1000 hours

Second week of "4 hour diet". Continuing Amosovs. Added Fermented Vegetables to diet.

Adjusting "cheat day" to avoid feeling like crap. I am losing the taste for refined sugar. Eliminated dairy and wheat from the diet. Mental clarify improved a great deal.

Weight loss so far - eight pounds.

Three mile walk, focusing on awareness, lots of hills. Amosov Movements (12)

I like the simple outline of your training - are the Amosov routine you're doing the same one from Super Joints or have you made some alterations?
There is a vast difference between treating effects and adjusting the causes.

Thank you. Just the Super Joints except that I use seated toe touches rather than the standing toe touches. I do twenty percent more squats than the remainder of the counts.

Amosovs(12) 3x4 Side presses 16 Kg.

Refraining from eating "bad food" is a matter of moment to moment decisions. One must "on the average" eat properly. Sometimes one "falls off of the wagon". It's really really important not to stress about these kinds of lapses.

My work area has vending machines. Coworkers have candy on their desks. The cafeteria has lots of sweet deserts. Every time I say, "I don't want to be fat" I get a tiny bit stronger. I like being clear headed. Sugar makes me feel "out of it".

One thing that helps a lot with resisting sugar is eating fermented foods. Kim Chi has become an important part of my diet. I try to eat some every day. I don't love the taste but it agrees with my digestion.

I offer this for those here who are Professional Trainers. Eating right and exercise are the product of conscious choices.

Friday - nothing, when will I learn?

Saturday Oct 13 - Amosovs(12) 2 mile walk in the darkness. Met a few friendly cats along the way. I'm calm enough to approach and pet them. Cats can sense tension, interpret it as predatory behavior and beat feet.

No Amosovs yesterday.

Amosovs(13) in 5 minutes.

Ate a helping of "white" food. Added second set of Amosovs(13) for today.

Looks like you are starting from the very basics: walking, Amosov, a little Power to the People. Done properly and diligently, this will take you quite far.

Also commend you on your lack of ego and starting with what you can realistically do.

Good luck.

"I also think training like a Navy S.E.A.L. is stupid for the average person. I would say PT like an infantry unit, run, body weight stuff, hump a little, a little weights and enjoy life if you are not training for specifics." -tough old man

Thank you, ABW. Gotta start somewhere to get where you're going. I'm seeking a lower body fat and a lower blood pressure. Sick of being a fat ass.

One other thing - I'd really like to be able to run again. Just run.

Jumped off of the wagon for three days. No exercises. No diet. I wanted to see how tough it would be to get back on it. I like it better on the wagon, going places.

Gene, what does Amosovs (10) mean?

And is the 4 hour diet, the Ferriss Slow Carb?

Amosov movements from "Super Joints". The number is the reps per movement. The four hour diet is Tim Ferriss's creation, yes. It's a tough diet for a dairy and wheat sensitive but you deal with it.

Are your "Amosovs" the Amosov Squat, or a series of movements?

When slow carbing (like now), I don't eat cheese or drink milk. But eggs would be tough to do without.

Entire series as outlined in "superjoints", Johno. Egg substitutes work ok for me.

Amosovs(14)

New pushup method. I go slower, tense the legs, butt and lats. Much easier time towards the end of the pushup phase. My shoulders get bugged less. I'll refine this with time. Very hopeful. Pushups were my limiting exercise.

Side presses 16kg 4 both sides. This helps cool off the shoulders too if I visualize pushing myself away from the weight (per PTP).

Restarted fermented vegetables (Kim Chi) after four day absence. Coconut oil is helping too. Ironically work is becoming much more hectic - maybe I was under challenged?
