Breaking myself back in easily after a tough few days. Hope to rjun through with the 32 tomorrow and then back at working with the 40kg. I'll make a purchase of either a 48kg or 52kg bell this weekend. Just working out which one I will get most benefit out of.

28/02

1. meditation

2. joint mobility & a short walk

3. S&S warm up x 3 with the 32kg + push ups

4. 1H Swings - 32kg x 5 x 10/10

4. TGU - 32kg x 5 x 1/1

5. stretch

This barely felt like exercise - no worries about re-commencing the 40kg bell over the weekend or on monday.

BW is 85.4 kg today. Of all my new year goals, the weight loss is proving hardest. I also wonder if it is worth it. I am a healthy weight and fairly lean, and whatever I gain in climbing ability will be lost elsewhere I'm sure. I think I will keep it in for now, but drastically lower my aim - weighing 82.5kg by June 1st would be more appropriate I think.

Also, got my 48kg bell coming soon, so I am going to try and get the 'sinister' target set by pavel in the program.

2. joint mobility

02/03

1. meditation

2. body flow routine

3. S&S warm up x 3 with 32kg + banded push ups

4. 1H swing - 40kg x 5 x 10/10

5. TGU - 40kg x 5 x 1/1

6. N-sits - 3 x 10 secs

7. Walk - 3 miles

Some notes about the next phase of the program; I need to remember that the sub 5 min effort is a test, not a training tool. Swings should be crisp and maximally powerful, so longer rests most of the time is fine. Also, the 5 set idea is not written in stone. Doing more is absolutely fine if time or energy permits. The 5 sets is about efficiency as opposed to anything else.

I am feeling quite strong at the moment, relative to last year certainly.

bloody hell - it's an international outfit, I never realised. Yes, that site may end up costing me a lot of money if I linger on it too long. The strongman implements look great fun. I'm sure the Mrs would like an atlas stone in the garden too as an ornamental feature....

Giving up sugar for lent; a loose definition but any processed sugars or products mainly constructed of sugar or sugar based products including honey and maple syrup. It's crept in of late and it's a fucker to kick out again.

Felt tired today. The heavy swings lack zip at the min, due to grip issues. That said, the forty now feels like child's play.

The S&S template seems to be working very well for you. Congrats!

I've noticed that you been doing "body flow" as part of your training for a while. Is it the Sonnon exercises you are referring to, or some other equally tactical shenanigans? And what made you shift to this from the JM?
Also what are these N-sits you mention?

Hi Xian, good to hear from you- how's the Qi Gong going?

Yes, S&S has been quite enjoyable, and spot on for this time of year to just get some meaningful work in without thinking about it too much. The body flow is taken from the primal move stuff. My mate is an instructor. It's ok, nothing new really and not worth spenmding money on but fine as an alternative warm up. No real motive behind the change other than a bit of variety...

N-sits are done on parallettes - they are an easier intro into L-sits. Good bouldering assistance!

6. N-sits - 3 x 11 secs

7. stretch

8. walk - 2 miles planned for evening.

The TGU with the 48 was a bit wobbly!

Yeah I had a scary moment on the descent but avoided crushing my head with swift intervention with my free hand. Be a stupid way to go, although it may earn me a workout named in my honour at some forums!

If the idea of dropping a KB on your head is so foreign to you, you do not belong in our ranks...

The qigong experiment s more or lessed dropped at this point. It doesn't adress cardio and (traditionel) strength, which one also needs IMO to have real health, and simply takes more time than I have with my meditation at all to get any significant progress. So I'm back to some sort of mobility/bodyweight mix.
