Unknown, I will have to take your advice some other time.

2013.03.02 AM & PM; morning jiujitsu with my son, helping the littlest ones with the idea of closing the guard as a way to control someone, and why you don't want to get in guard if you are on top. Later in the day I did this...

1. Bench 5 x 5 up to 165 lbs.
2. Squat 5 x 5 up to 195 lbs.
3. Dead Lift 3 x 5 up to 235 lbs.

Aloha!

2013.03.04PM; jiu-jitsu...rolled with a smaller blue belt for my warm up, mostly playing bottom half and open guard, and then relinquishing the top position. He actually had some nice attacks and I made sure to give him positive feedback. I was being playful and opening myself to some attacks, but I didn't want him to feel like I was being cocky or didn't respect his offense.

Next, half an hour of countering the double underhook pass over, and over, and over with guard replacement, triangle, armbar, and omoplatas. Second half an hour of drills was all switching from closed guard to open guard without giving up the pass and either sweeping or triangle to the top.

Finished with another half an hour of sparring, still trying to keep things pretty playful and chilled out.

Aloha!

2013.03.06PM; jiu-jitsu...rolled with a purple belt for my warm up, maybe 25 minutes of just playing open guard and half. He might have passed me once, but whenever I swept him or got him in a submission position, I just let it go and we kept rolling in a pretty laid back pace. I tried to keep it fun and not too much pressure, so that he could just enjoy and get his wind back.

After that, half an hour of speed passing to knee on belly, then another half an hour drilling chokes: cross-collar and d'arce from knee on belly.

I had to pick my son up from his grandparents so no end of class sparring for me.

Aloha!

Relson Gracie's 8th degree, red-and-black belt known is Portuguese as faixa-coral. A senior black belt, who has trained under Relson for 17 years pointed out that he has been the same belt the entire time we have been with him.

Realness.

Is the red belt gig this weekend?

I watched the first 3 UFCs last night and I loved it when Relson was giving Kimo and Joe Son the stink eye.

That belt symbolizes Relson's enduring dedication to his art. Inspiring.

2013.03.09AM; jiu-jitsu...took my son to jiu-jitsu and taught 16 little monsters the outside trip and valley drop. We are trying to lay emphasis on just getting the match to the mat, but its a very wide range of kids from 4 to 12 so what some can do easily is beyond the ability of others. It was chaotic but fun.

Afterward took the boy to lunch and had a nap.

2013.03.10PM; LaLanne System of Physical Culture...now with Set-O-Matic™ power! Warmed up with Hindu Squats x 100.

I've been feeling like doing some body weight workouts for a while now, so I chose a course from my library and worked through it with pleasure. It's varied workout of nice body weight exercises like hand stand pushups and pistols, dips and body weight rows, so I had fun.

Finished it up with a 6 mile hike in the pouring rain.

2013.03.12PM; jiu-jitsu...warm up was taking our toughest gorilla and letting him mount me over and over, going for the escape and/or defend, working to accept positions when necessary and to rapidly change them when the opportunity presented itself. This went for about 25 minutes and at no time did he put me in real danger, and I swept him to top many times so I was feeling positive about that as he is a physical specimen and frequent gold medalist in local tournaments.

Drilled leg drag passing for half an hour, and then an additional half an hour of sleeve drags from closed guard to the back, or when he clamps down on the bottom leg how to step over and flip him into an armbar.

Finished up with additional 6 minute rounds, mostly playing top knee on belly and cross lapel chokes.

Aloha!

Have not looked at the logs of late.

Training the Boy, NICE!

How old is the little Cat now? Seems like yesterday he was born.

How long you been training him?

It's great training your boy, Liam has been formally training now with us since November and he is still dong Fencing and gearing up for a tournament on the 30th. Aidan is chomping at the bit to go to class with his brother, not going to happen until he is 10 but I do martial play with him at home.

I look forward to tales of Little Cat.

Good going Papa, you Helio you! =D>

Thanks Darth! More and more I understand jiu-jitsu as a social art.

2013.03.19PM; jiu-jitsu...half an hour rolling with a fairly heavy blue belt, playing a very flowing style and trying to move a lot from both the bottom and top. As cliché as it sounds, water was the element.

2013.03.21PM; my son is on spring break so not much jiu-jitsu for me this week.

I did the chain with kettlebells, i.e., Die Kette. I lined up a pair of kettlebells from 16 kg to 40 kg and did snatch>press>clean>jerk once each with each hand, nonstop through the line, two times through.

1. CB Shield Cast 3 x 5 each
2. Bench Press 5 x 5 up to 165 lbs.
3. Die Kette Complex x 2
