Thanks Fats.

I have my tricks that help me score even when I'm out of position.

Trials are in April so lots of time to work on improving between now & then.

PM BJJ:
Attacking the collar choke in sneaky ways while passing, as to lock them out of the pummel, then choking seamlessly.

PM No Gi:
Over/Under pass, then back stepping.
Grapples with Simon, feeling flow to my shots pretty well & moving through the scrambles like a boss.

Roll:
In the Gi with a few friends from other schools, & moving generally well.
Took the Gi off & I'm brutally efficient.
I think it's mindset more than equipment.

Mark, is this your go-to takedown from Front Headlock, or did it just happen to be there that time?

I stepped with the wrong foot.
Usually I go inside trip with the other foot or ankle pick.

2/2/13

Park City Tournament
Tune up under IBJJF rules in the gi for my April tournament.

2 matches, same theme, playing, not putting the grind & the pressure on.
Much more evident in the second match as my opponent had a bye & was fresh, while I had a 10 minute match 5 minutes earlier.

A far cry of what I am capable of.
A few adjustments & I will drop 50 points a match rather than 11, & won't be giving up 8.

Plus you wore his ass out after having a 10' match 5' earlier and him having a bye. If that match had lasted 5 more minutes you would have crushed him.

Far too much time spent waiting, letting him find grips, coasting, not pressuring like I should.
I'd've had an off/on relationship with that pressure & pace, & now I'm going to dial back the volume on training, but crank the intensity up AFUCKINGLOT.
Still, good to see this tendency & make corrections now rather than at the Trials.

I'd say good luck but you don't need it. Just keep working. You know your path.

None the less, I took major resting periods & didn't time my motions ahead of his to shut down the gi gripping game & allow me to make it a flow & motion game which I am excellent at.

PM No Gi:
Change over with & without hooks.
Must get better at this.
Some takedowns with Simon, need to cut much better angles to score consistently.
