A Quiet Place to Log My Training

Spring Summary
  • Started meditation
    Lost 3 lbs
    Solid improvement in tennis game
    Cycling strength coming back - stronger recovery
    Dropped strength training
Goals for Summer
  • Drop 10 more lbs (tennis)
    Begin incorporating 2 x weekly strength training
    Yoga classes - once a week
    Continue building a consistent meditation practice.
    Slightly less cycling/tennis time

    60 min tennis
Practiced serve.

Mon 7.08
  • 6 min meditation
    19 miles cycling
    5 min strength training
    • pushups
      chins
Tue 7.09
  • 6 min meditation
    10 min flexibility
    70 min tennis
So freaking humid. I hate it.

Wed 7.10
  • 15 min flexibility
    150 min tennis
W/Bill, John, and Serge. 2 hours yardwork. Wiped out.

Thu 7.11
  • 20 min flexibility
    18 miles cycling
Fri 7.12
  • 30 min flexibility
    130 min tennis
W/John, Noel, Jacqueline.

Sat 7.13
  • 6 min meditation
    26 miles cycling
    10 min strength
    • pushups - 5 sets
      chins - 5 sets
Rode a few miles w/Craig C again. Chatting about working out.

Nice. congratulations on the weight loss. Keep it up! I am working on getting some pounds dropped myself.

What type of meditation are you doing?

Thanks Mickey and Abstract.

The weight loss is not a big deal. I'm not really overweight, it is just a matter of getting a little lighter to move better at singles tennis. It is a trade off. I'll actually be almost too skinny if I lose more weight, but it makes a difference in my movement, and lessens the pounding a little. Every little bit helps at age 56.

Rallied w/Bill and Noel. Hitting the ball as cleanly as I can recently remember. Fun.

Easy rallying and light drills w/Noel.

19 miles cycling

Had an early dentist appt, so I rode at noon. Blech.

Played outside at Stonecroft. Rallied w/Noel, then with Bill and Larry. Hot as hell.

Fri 7.19

    15 min strength
    • machine row - 3 sets
      machine chest press - 2 sets
      pulldowns - 2 sets
      ez bar curl - 2 sets
      db triceps ext- 1 set
      machine triceps dip - 1 set
At the Fieldhouse. Miserably hot and humid. 1st hour tennis w/Bill and Noel. Just Bill and me for the last 90 minutes. Completely drained at the end. Some half-assed weights afterwards. Shockingly weak.
