2013.10.29PM; jiu-jitsu...one hour of sparring with Keaulana. He's a blue belt, quite a bit lighter than I am, so I just played open guard and attacked with triangles, armlocks, and 50/50 leglock games.

2013.10.30PM; light recovery workout after Saturday's heavy day...all weights plugged to .7(RM). 10 of 40...

1. Two Hand Kettlebell Swing 1 x 25 @ 36 lbs.
2. Two Hand Press 1 x 10 @ 115 lbs.
3. Dead Lift 1 x 10 @ 215 lbs.
4. Strict Barbell Curl 3 x 10 @ 55 lbs.
5. One Arm Kettlebell Bent Row 3 x 10 @ 36 lbs.

...finished up with an hour of fencing with my son in the back yard.

2013.11.04PM; jiu-jitsu...an hour drilling some funky spider-to-x-guard sweeps and guard retention including inverts, then timed rounds. I hit two nice counter throws, an uchimata and an obi-otoshi, both times when he got in on me with a single.

2013.11.05PM; fencing...my son with espada y daga, and I with sword and buckler. Once he got the idea of receiving my attack with one blade while issuing a riposte with the other he fucked me up.

Also, the long swords have arrived, so we fixed and mounted them.

2013.11.06PM; jiu-jitsu...one hour hard rolling. Did fine until the very end of a thirty minute death match, got tired and choked. Other than that I was doing okay, but I made the one error I told myself not to make from the outset and let my opponent play from his strongest position. Oh well.

2013.11.07PM; I am coming down with a cold. :( I decided not to pass on my germz, so I stayed home with my son and we fenced in the backyard: longswords, sword and buckler, sword and dagger were all represented. Whiskey was applied medicinally.

2013.11.12PM; jiu-jitsu…rolled for twenty minutes with a mediocre blue belt, just pulling guard and extemporizing from there. I set for myself the challenge of only submitting from back mount with a hand in the collar; it made things more interesting for me and gave him additional time to work his game.

After him, I rolled a 25-minute death match against a very good brown belt; he just got back from a professional fight in the SAW league in Tokyo. I came pretty close a couple of times, but I never cleanly passed his guard. After close to half an hour I had never been swept and had threatened him a few times, but my lungs just shut down. It was stupid of me to train so hard when I am still recovering from a cold, but I am nothing if not stupid. This is the second time in two weeks that exhaustion has cost me a long match, so I am vexed, but what is there to do but train more and harder?
