Thanks Bram, I was reviewing some mobility stuff I had totally forgot about fingers and hands for some reason.

Wednesday,

No meditation today, didnt find time for it which is a lame excuse.

KB warmup

Swing 24kg 5x 10/10
Tgu 24kg 5 x 1/1
Pushups
Bandwork

Thinking about moving up to 32kg swings did some today not as snappy as the 24 but felt ok otherwise.

Jiu jitusu, grip fighting to warm up followed by some xguard sweeps, 5x5 min rolling to finish stayed focused on going with the flow.

Stress is killing me right now, no way out for the foreseeable future either.

Hang tough, no need to swim fast, just avoid drowning for now is plenty :-)

Thanks Frogster, I'm hanging on.

Friday,

Jiu Jitsu, warmup then butterfly into xguard sweeps, rolling was light today, two newer people so I explained the dynamics of rolling let them move freely if it was within the correct context, one roll with our older black belt, he's cool with me attacking knee bars, footlocks and calf slicers, was a nice dynamic roll.

KB, warm up

Swings 24kg 100 swings in 4 mins
TGU 24kg 5 x 1/1 in 6:30
Pullups 5,4,3,2,2
bandwork

Maybe move fully into the 32 for the swings, may hold of on the tgu as there is room for improvement here.

Tuesday,

No time for kb's for the past two days, I have been crazy busy, I had wanted to keep a good long streak of S&S work, will see If I can start up again wedensday,

Today I ran three classes for the professor

1. Drilled the armbar from guard, kept adding details making sure the class understood the proper alignment and details that are often rushed past for more 'exciting' techniques.
2. Kids class, spent most of the class discussing bullying how to spot it and strategies to deal with it.
3. Open mat, today is the day where I have been practising closing the distance while under fire from stikes, clinching and completing the takedown did this for half an hour, its something you must practice so you have the right reactions when people try and punch you in the face, after this I spent half an hour takedown sparring having good success with the throws I like, including an aikido technique called sumiotoshi it can catch people of guard. The final half an hour was rolling I was feeling fairly tired by this point so I played light.

Thursday,

Nogi, covered the class for the professor, butterfly guard drills and a sweep. 4 x 5 min rolls jammed my thumb again, its still not fully healed from the last time, my left knee is also playing up not sure if its jiu jitsu related or related to the getups ive been doing.

Had to take a few days rest, knee has been bothering me, I'm thinking it might be the daily tgu irritating a problem I've had on and of for a while which is lame. I like the effects of daily moderate training, so now its between the Issac Hayes stuff, etk or somethjng similar to alfreds log or jdins stuff.

Bought a copy of mindlefulness in plain English can't get away with kindle books, for somethings it works well for but I prefer thumbing through books, its quicker.

Tried clean and press to day with both 20 and 24kg bell, these are out, somethings fucked around forearm bicep area, its been sore for a while I have been doing band curls and tricep extensions to see if it could help.

Did the swings fine x 100 @24kg

Tried tgu to see if I could identify whats causing the pain, seems to be pushing out of the lunge postion and returning to the lunge position deceleration.

Some of these could be atributed to jiu jitsu, could be worse but it's still pissing me off, looks like what ever I do next will be based around swings, squats, pushups and neutral grip pullups, carrys should be in the mix to I hope.

Jiu jitsu, class was on recovering the guard from mount using solid basics that people think they have mastered so they can learn worm guard or something else funky. The more I train jiu jitsu the more I have an appreciation of the basics and applying them from everywhere. Specific sparring finish from the mount or escape from the bottom, hard work, I need to focus more on the details.

Thursday,

Busy day, non stop still managed to fit my swings in:

100 H2H with 20 kg
100 1 hand split 50/50 with the 24kg
50 2 handed with 24kg

Now that exercise seems to be on track its time to focus on the dietary side of things, I have some weight to shift and its done in the kitchen not the gym, something I keep needing to remind myself of.

Monday,

Kb warm up, the warm up from simple and sinister is one of the best for this sort of stuff.

Swings, 5 x 10/10 witn 24kg
Bent press 2 x 5/5 with 24kg
Pushups
Jungle gym rows

Jiu jitsu, warm up, lots of movement drills, armbar from closed guard combo 4 cbained attacks, good stuff. Specific sparring to finish.

Still cant find a rhythm with strength work or as I like to call it injury prevention training. Feel fragile on the mats not resilient at all.

Back at it,

Busy few weeks, jiujitsu continues as usual. Outside of this life is 110 miles an hour and not in a good way, but there is little I can do about it for now. I have been reading The Obstacle is The Way, very relevant to me at the moment. Exercise wise I have been doing slow circuits in the mornings before anyone wakes as my insomnia as returned with a vengeance.

This mornings circuit:

10 deck squats
5 pullups
10 pushups
5 ab wheel rollouts

X 4

Used a 3-1-3 tempo as much as possible and only rested 5 slow deep breaths between exercises and circuits, nasal breathing only

Finshed up with 5 mins oalc switching hands every 5 reps used the 20kg bell for this.

Tuesday,

Mobility circuit this morning for 20 mins

Open mat, rolled for an hour at a good pace with a blue and purple belt, felt drained at the end, which is good I needed a good workout, shoulders are sore from the oalc yesterday, going away for a week or so so will be taking bands with me band good mornings, zercher style deadlift and squats, with bands along with, lunges, pushups, rows and chins will be the mainstay, along with plenty of mobility work - road warrior style.

Time to log again I have been away for a week or so on holiday, I've got some injuries that need to be healed strangely I feel ok when doing jiu jitsu but of the mat I feel like shit. Strange things are happening to my jiu jitsu, its becoming a lot smoother and I no longer think of specific techniques when sparring I am just in the moment it feels great, still not sure if its the way to go, but I am enjoying the ride.

Time to stop lying to myself and get healthy, everything comes from being healthy, I need to get rid of my old enemy black dog, despite best appearances otherwise I have not been good this year, worst I have had for a while. From tomorrow mobility, 5 rites and pressing reset everyday. one day at a time.
