17/12/14

Lower body mobility and jumpstretch work 20mins

Jiu jitsu am, half guard sweeps and attacks some cool stuff from Rico, no sparring for me, sticking to my rule of not rolling during the day!

Jiu jitsu pm, side control attacks, specific sparring from side control, then full sparring.

One hour cycle easy effort, was good to get out and get some fresh air, I have a slight cold coming on hoping it will pass quickly, after the cycle I did 30 mins of mobility and stretching nearly flat to the ground in the frog stretch not much further to go maybe I will be box splitting next year.

Nothing the last few days other than mobility work, after I got rid of the cold I came down with a chest infection, which sucks when you have asthma, main workout until this settles down is antibiotics and food, no drink until these antibiotics are finished.

So a pretty shitty 24hours oldest kid took an overdose of medication and ended up in hospital, she has been getting help for depression for 2 years we have had a feeling that things were coming to a head, feeling rather calm and matter of fact which is strange. We do our best to provide a stable home environment it still is a weird feeling, there are elements of teenage rebellion mixed in with this depression, not the best start to the new year.

Did this during the early hours of the morning as I couldn't sleep:

1. Swings 4 x 25 @20kg
2. Double clean and press 5 x 5 @20kg
3. Pullup 5 x 4
4. Double front squat 5 x 5 @20kg

I'm really sorry to read about your daughter, zak. I know that must be a terrible, helpless feeling. My daughter suffers from depression and anxiety and so far it's been pretty manageable. My wife suffers from depression as well but hers is worse than my daughter's. I wish there was something I could say to help. Stay strong and hang in there!

1. Weighted vest jungle gym lunge 5x5
2. Pushup 4 x 10

Notes, twinged groin, I have not been warming up and paid the price nothing too serious but sudden movements are not good.

Jiu jitsu, even with a pulled groin I went to class only did the drills though, no rolling.
