Troll hunting ain't easy

Post by zak-zombie » Tue Apr 05, 2016 7:28 pm

Long time no log, last year has been hugely trying, physically I've put on a 14kg moving from 80kg to 94kg not good training has been sporadic at best, currently I'm only drilling at jiu jitsu as I'm recovering from a knee and ankle injury. I'm finally stable with medication now, so now is a good time to kick on and move forward.

Training will be 4 sessions a week combining kb's and bodyweight as these are the tools I have, the goal is to move and get a sweat on and lose some weight,I'm tracking food intake through my fitness pal.

Todays session:

Round 1
Sumo deadlift
Pushup
Row
Bodyweight squat

Round 2
2 hand swing
Plank hold
Front squat l/r
Mountain climber

Round 3
1 hand swing l/r
Burpee
Overhead press l/r
Sit through

Round 4
Clean l/r
Plank hold
Goblet squat
Low windmill l/r

Each exercise was done for 30' with 15' rest twice through for 8 rounds, from here on out this will be knowing as conditioning 1, used a 16kg bell, yes I'm weak.

40 minutes ride in a hilly area, been a while since I've rode, was pretty tired by the end.

Jiu jitsu, passing drills and armbar drillz from side control, rolled light, was good to be back at it even if it was light rolling.

Jiu jitsu passing drills to warm up and some open guard concepts, specific sparrinb to finish, still going light, got a referral to see a specialist about my ankle, hope it comes through soon.

No car for a week or so since a bus totalled our old car.

Jiujitsu, mount escaoes to warm up then collar chokes from the guard. 5x5 min rounds to finish.

First combo:

Clean and press 2 x 20kg 2 x 1,2,3
Ss witht
Pull up 2 x 1,2,3

Second combo:
Swing 32kg x 10
Farmers walk 2 x 20kg 40 meters
X 4

Front squats 2 x 20kg 3 x 5

Finished with arm and neck work

I've been thinking about joining a gym and starting to lift again, probably 2 days a week so it won't interfere too much with jiujitsu bench and squat one day and press and deadlift the other.

1 hour riding some local trails, it's been a while since I've ridden of road it was good fun, finished up with some stretching using bands for 20 mins

Not really losing any weight, I need to eat like an adult, ditch the sugar and get rid of the nutella, that stuff is like crack cocaine to me.

Catchup

Wednesday, jiu jitsu lots of rolling

Clean and press 2 x 24kg 2 x 1,2,3
Ss with
Pull up 2 x 1,2,3

Only had time for this today, spent most of the day exploring a local beauty spot and looking at Roman remains

I kind of hate the fact jiu jitsu is getting so popular, so many ufc mundial type wannabes turning up, actually puts me off training.

Trained Jiu jitsu 10 times in the last 7 days, feeling beat up tried a couple of kettlebell workouts but I'm running low on energy, need to find some kind of work I can do outside of class to get some basic strength and injury prevention. I like using kettlebells, mainly because its what I have. Going to have a think about what will work.

Birthday workout 1 rep for each year:

2 x 24kg x 38
Pullups x 38

Done in 20 mins

Squat 2 x 20kg x 38

Wife has paid for a years gym membership as part of my birthday gift, so I can smell some barbell workouts coming up.
